Bronco Family Newsletter
Second Semester underway!
Greetings Bronco Families!
We are back in the swing of things in the second semester, and one thing I can promise- this semester will fly by. Spring always does! One sure sign- progress reports are being produced this week! They will be sent home to families via email Friday, February 10th.
On that note, we have many students to celebrate from first semester for excellence in many areas- be on the lookout for emails about this soon! This includes our academic awards for Principal's list, Honor Roll, Academic Improvement, and so much more!
Last night, we had our Open House, and 8th grade parent night. Current and incoming Bronco families came to view student work and performances, learn more about our programs, and talk with teachers - the energy was enthusiastic and excited, and we want to thank everyone who came out!
Spring sports began tryouts this week. This includes Track and Field, Swimming, Girls and Boys Lacrosse, Boys Golf, Boys Volleyball, Softball, and Baseball- Boys tennis will be trying out next week. All athletes competing in winter sports must wait until their season is over before trying out, but they are guaranteed a tryout once they are available.
Last week we met with 9-11th grade students to look over course requests and transcripts, and plan for next year's classes. Students and families will get a first draft course list emailed in late May, with many opportunities to request changes before the start of the next school year.
Our cafeteria has an exciting new offering this week- to alleviate lines and offer students more opportunity to enjoy their food outside, they have re-opened an outdoor cafe line, with burgers and chicken sandwiches, their most popular items.
There have been some great things happening in the past few weeks! Here are just a few examples:
- Our production workshop program just performed their Winter One Act plays, which were all student written and directed. These great pieces ranged from hilarious to poignant, and our performers once again stunned audiences with their incredible work! Congrats to our PW group, and to Mr. Litten, for these outstanding productions! Check the calendar for some more exciting productions coming up!
- Our winter athletics programs have had wonderful seasons, and we are coming up on our senior nights this and last week. Next up (we are hoping)- NCS playoffs! Stay tuned...
- Speaking of athletes, we just celebrated four senior athletes on National Letter of Intent Day, or 'Signing Day'- these seniors, shown below, have been recruited in their sport to some outstanding college programs- and we are so proud! (#alwaysaBronco) We have another signing day planned in the spring for our athletes who may be signing a bit later.
- Our Jazz Band I just won the prestigious Folsom Jazz Festival AGAIN! The repeat champions also earned unanimous superior ratings at the California Music Educators Festival the week prior, and Jazz Band II was also honored there, with 3 excellents and 1 superior awarded to the band. Congratulations to our musicians, and to Mr. Garcia-Leiva for his work with the groups!
As always, there is way more happening on campus than we can accurately report here. Keep up by following Northgate High School on Twitter - @northgatehs
Have an excellent week, and GO BRONCOS!

Bell Schedule - 2023-24 School Year
The teachers did vote on this proposed new schedule last week, and similarly, it was a split vote as well, and the new schedule did not pass. Our bell schedule next year will be the same as it is this year.
This is one of those situations where it is impossible to please everyone- but we certainly wanted to garner feedback regardless.
Thank you again- below is the bell schedule!
