Riverglen Parent Newsletter- July 2022

From the Desk of the Principal

I hope all of our Grizzlies have been enjoying their summer and are finding time to have fun, spend time with their families and are getting ready for a great school year. Whether you are new to Riverglen or a returning family, the information in this newsletter will hopefully answer any questions you may have. Please remember that you can always check our school website for the most accurate and up-to-date information, but if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email me or contact the office. The office will reopen Monday, August 2nd.
Once again, have a great rest of your summer and we will see you soon!

Upcoming Dates at Riverglen

The title above (Mark Your Calendars) is a hyperlink to our school calendar on the Riverglen Web page. Please bookmark it and reference it as needed. On that calendar, you will find everything from school closure dates to activity, game and concert schedules that may involve your student.

Below are a few of the important dates coming up that all families should be aware of are:

August 3rd- Orientation Day (See Schedule Below)

August 17th- 2022-2023 First Day of School (Noon Release)

August 18th- Riverglen Parent Open House 6:00-8:00 PM (Details to Come)

2022-2023 Orientation Day

If you are getting this newsletter, it means your student(s) are already registered and have classes assigned for this coming school year. However, we would still like to invite you in for student Orientation on August 3rd. Think of it as a Riverglen Sneak Peek.

We HIGHLY encourage our 7th graders and all new Riverglen students to come in on orientation day since they will know their schedules and can find their classrooms. This day is a great opportunity to "walk" their schedule and get a feel for the building layout.

The schedule is as follows:
9th graders- 8:00-9:30
8th graders- 10:00-11:30
7th Graders- 1:00-2:30

On that day your student can:

  • pick up their schedule (they are also available that day through Infinite Campus)
  • make schedule changes (ALL changes must be made BEFORE the first day of school)
  • try out their locker (if they plan to use one)
  • turns in medical forms and any paperwork not already submitted or completed on-line
  • check out school devices if needed (all 7th graders and all other students who do not already have a district device), fill out the BSD Responsible Use form.
  • gather information regarding extracurricular opportunities at Riverglen
  • order spirit wear

It is an open time slot, so come anytime in the window that you can make it. If you have two students at different grade levels you can pick one window that will work for you and bring multiple students the one time. If for any reason you can not attend, the school will be open from 8:30 am-11:30 am and 12:30 pm-2:30 pm each day beginning August 4th.
