Bedminster Students Show Service in Many Ways
Bedminster students worked hard to help out people and their community. Examples of their “service” can be found in the display cases and bulletin boards around Bedminster. Some students made cookies for police officers and firemen and donated an advent box to Pennridge Fish. Also, someone donated toys to Toys for Tots and raised money for people with disabilities. Others donated food to handicapped elders who can’t get food themselves and donated winter clothes to less fortunate people. A few children wrote letters to thank people who help us every day. For example: local workers, mailmen, garbage men, neighbors, and the military. One family traveled to Philly to give homeless people food and blankets. Another service included a student and her family traveling to the hospital to deliver meatballs, rolls, and brownies. For another service project, a student went to the SPCA and donated blankets to keep the animals warm. If you are visiting Bedminster in the next few weeks, be sure to check out the student displays and pictures of these wonderful service events.
Our school will be gathering together very soon to make blankets for elderly facilities. Thanks to 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Lorish and Mrs. Freed, one of our recess aides, a very special service event will be taking place in each classroom. They have been preparing for the event for many weeks. Also, Molly B and the iPad crew will be filming this event. Stay tuned to learn more about this heartwarming project.
Search for Those Shoes
May's T.A.K.E.S. P.R.I.D.E. theme is being dependable. Some children close by and some families very far away are depending on all of us to help them out this coming May. Please read the article below to find out how you can get involved.
Search for Those Shoes
Shoe collectors get ready....Go! Bedminster Elementary will be having a shoe collection in May. We need your help, so start rummaging through your closets and collecting your shoes now. The shoes that can be collected are sneakers, cowboy boots, work boots, dress shoes, ballet shoes, and clogs. We cannot accept flip flops, sandals, or wet or moldy shoes. Our shoe collection will benefit the children at Firely Pediatric House in Harleysville. The medically fragile children at Firely require constant care. For each pair of shoes collected, Firely receives fifty cents from a shoe repair company. The shoe repair company then fixes the shoes and ships them to third world countries. The shoe drive will benefit both the children at Firely and people in third world countries. So...hurry racers! These people will really appreciate your help. Now, remember this shoe collection starts in May. Tick...tock...tick...tock...the stopwatch has started. Once you have brought in at least one pair of shoes, you have crossed the finish line!
