Read-A-Thon Results
Our students CRUSHED the Read-A-Thon goal! As a school community, our goal was to read, collectively, for 57,000 minutes over the two weeks of the Read-A-Thon. But school-wide students read for over 66,000 minutes! (And a huge shout out to Mr Ogletree's fifth graders, who were responsible for over 10,000 just by themselves!)
As a result, students earned an extra recess, a popcorn party next Friday, and a school dance, scheduled for Wednesday, February 21. Good reading, Eagles!
Free Breakfast and Lunch for All Students
As I wrote earlier this week, Irvington has been included in the district's expansion of their CEP program, which means that now all Irvington students can receive free breakfast and free lunch everyday! There's no need to sign up or do anything to access this service. If you have money on your account that you would like to have refunded, please email nssupport@pps.net with your name, your mailing address, and your child's name.
Author Visit on Feb 13
We are excited to host local author, Dane Liu, on Tuesday, February 13! She will visit with the whole school, and books are still available for purchase.
No Candy for Valentine's Day, Please!
Family Gym "Night" Is Sunday
Family Gym “Night” is back on Sunday, February 11, from 10am-12pm in the Irvington School Gym. Bring the whole family! We’ll have music and will cycle through a variety of organized games during the two hour block. Past activities have included bowling, obstacle courses, community-building games, soccer, floor hockey, parachute, kids vs. adults games, and more.
Enter through the gym doors at the back of the school. Knock loudly when you arrive. Please come by any time during open hours. All kids should have a supervising adult present. Questions? Email familynight@irvingtonschool.com.
The Auction Needs Your Help!
The school auction, our biggest fundraiser of the year, is coming up April 27, and we need your help to make the event a success. Donate an item, host a party, or be a sponsor! Check out the website or contact auction@irvingtonschool.com to get involved. Thank you!
Parents of Neurodiverse Students Coffee Chat
If you are a parent or caregiver of an Irvington student who identifies as neurodiverse, we are having a coffee chat in the PTA room on Monday, February 19, after drop off (around 9am). This is an inclusive group with a broad definition of neurodiversity. If you're interested in this group and wondering if it's for you, come chat with us over coffee and find out. Contact Amy Dachtler at amydachtler@gmail.com with any questions.
PTA/PPS Clothing Closet Volunteers Needed - Last Chance to Sign up!
Irvington’s turn to supply volunteers to the PTA/PPS Clothing Center is just two weeks away. We have 4 volunteers signed up (thank you!) and we need a few more. If you’re interested in helping Thursday, February 15, from 9:30am-1:30pm, click here to learn more and sign up.
Girls on the Run <REPEAT>
Girls on the Run participant registration is opening soon on February 21! You will be able to sign up here. A lottery system is run for the first 7 days of participant registration. This is an equitable system that all GOTR programs use. Families will be notified of registration status soon after the lottery. After that, the remaining spots are first come, first served. We are so very lucky to have enough coaches for 30 participants, so I am hopeful that you will have a spot if your child is interested! Practices will be Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3:00-4:45pm, starting March 19. Email Carolyn Sykes (csykes@pps.net) for questions.
