-Elanor Roosevelt helped woman and was important during her husbands presidency.
-Frances Perkins was the first women to head an executive department.
-Mary women became leaders in government agencies during the New Deal.

-William Hastie became the first black federal judge in U.S. history
-African Americans were also hired to fill posts in the government called the black cabinet
-Mary McLeod Bethune was the director of Negro Affairs in the National Youth Administration

-Dorothea Lange were hired to document the plight of the poor.
-James Agee and Walker Evans both depicted the lives of sharecroppers in the lower south.
