Lindsey Weekly Update
September 11, 2020
Message from Mrs. Bellan:
Hello Lindsey Families,
This week has been a tremendous success due to the efforts of our students, staff, and families. Thank you all for your efforts to help make it a success. Seeing our students play at recess has been one of the highlights along with hearing our teachers dive right into instruction. Our students have done an outstanding job exceeding all of the expectations set before them. Thank you ALL!
Here are a few reminders:
Please know that our front parking lot will be reserved for busses at all times. Anyone visiting the building must use the side parking lot unless you require a handicapped parking spot. Additionally, we will be using the front lot for recess. Please park in the side lot every time you are entering Lindsey.
The elementary school day is 8:40 a.m. to 3:20 p.m. Doors will open for students at 8:15 a.m. Students who arrive after 8:40 a.m. will be considered tardy and must be signed in by a parent.
Dismissal will begin at 3:20 p.m. for car riders and bus riders. We have started slightly earlier this week as we practice these procedures. Next week, we will not release our students until 3:20, as I don't want to jeopardize instructional minutes now that we have solidified our system. Families have been lining up very early and I would encourage some families to consider coming around 3:30 for a very short line! If too many families come early, we will spill out onto the street.
Any students who need an early dismissal must be picked up prior to 2:45 pm. This need must be communicated in writing using the transportation form by 9:00 a.m. A huge thank you to our families for using our transportation form to notify the office about your transportation plans. This has been a tremendous time saving for our office staff. We sincerely appreciate your cooperation!
Transportation
We will need to know your child's end of day plans. To let us know where your child is going home at the day's end, please complete either a DAY PASS or PERMANENT PASS in the attached form. Additionally, there is an option for an EARLY RELEASE should you need to pick up your child before 2:45 pm
Link for the transportation form: https://forms.gle/3Q9hTC78JhaJUZSR8
Please bookmark the form for easy reference. No paper notes will be accepted we are going all electronic. Thanks for your help in this process.
Given COVID-19, we are trying to make more of our everyday processes electronic and more efficient. These will replace the previous paper form we had.
Please note that there is an option for Lindsey students to ride a bus to Westwood so that parents can pick up all of their elementary-aged students at one location.
Should you have any questions about your child's bus route, please contact Cheryl Fowler at cheryl.fowler@westg.org or 440-729-0026.
MAP Testing
Please be sure your child gets a good night's rest and eats a nutritious breakfast on these mornings to ensure we have the best picture of your child's academic skills. Additionally, it is imperative that your child brings his/her headphones.
The in person schedule is as follows:
3rd Grade: 9/15 for Mathematics, 9/17 for Reading
4th Grade: 9/14 for Mathematics, 9/16 for Reading, 9/18 for Science
5th Grade: 9/21 for Mathematics, 9/22 for Reading, 9/23 for Science.
Students who are attending our Virtual Program will be testing next week. Your child's homeroom teacher will communicate specifics about the schedule.
