Friday Faculty Focus
News and Notes about #BeBCMS-SY 19- Issue 9
The last week....of the first 9 weeks
Excellent job setting the bar of ELITEness the first nine weeks.
We have five more student days plus a teacher work day before you will have a nice break. For the second nine weeks we will be incredibly dialed into learning targets, performance tasks, specially designed instruction, and creating more supports in our classes by turning them into collaborative classes. We will discuss these changes with teams.
Thank you for an awesome start! The week ahead is going to be amazing!

What I'm Reading.... (The •5)
I am continuing to read Hello, Universe as my fiction read and reread Hattie's work as my professional read, but I also want to share with you a personal treasure. My brother is being inducted this weekend into the University of Mount Union's Hall of Fame. Quite an honor, for sure, as in 2002 he was awarded the Gagliardi Trophy, which is the Division 3 verison of the Heisman. I could go into a million reasons why I am proud of him, etc, but I think if you read the article it will reinforce what we believe and know to be true here: Relationsihps FIRST, Relationships ALWAYS.

Student Growth Percentiles
Student Growth Percentiles (SGP) A student growth percentile (SGP) describes a student's growthcompared to other students with similar prior test scores (their academic peers). Although the calculations for SGPs are complex, percentiles are a familiar method of measuring students in comparison to their peers.
We will meet regarding these results and the impact they will have on our CCRPI score vertical alignment content PLC meetings. I will be scheduling those meetings. When you look at your personal student growth percentile, how do you measure? You should know there are teachers who have 80 and higher on the SGP measure. Also note, we are in the design process for next school year. Continue to do the ELITE work you are doing, but know that changes from a team and content stand point are in the future.

Remember when we talked at the beginning of the year about collective efficacy? Alone we can only do so much, TOGETHER we can do so much more?
Well, the same is true for collective efficacy in our work with our scholars!
