Swansboro Teacher to be Recognized

Swansboro High School teacher and coach, Kim Miller, will be recognized at the upcoming NCHSAA annual meeting as the Region 2 selection for the association's Eight Who Make a Difference award. Eight outstanding coaches are selected to represent the 8 North Carolina regions who have served as role models and have made a difference in the lives of their student athletes.

The award is named in honor of the late Homer Thompson, the long-time Winston-Salem Parkland coach and member of the NCHSAA Hall of Fame. The winners are chosen by a special committee based on nominations from the member schools.

Employee Recognition Week Campaign

We appreciate our OCS employees.

Let's celebrate them May 2-6 and every day!

During the week of May 2-6, 2016, Onslow County Schools will celebrate Employee Recognition Week. These dates coincide with the national teacher appreciation week; however, Onslow County Schools will show appreciation for all district employees during the week. Some of the activities we will be doing through the week include:

  • Superintendent message of appreciation to all employees each day.

  • Posters and wall signs distributed to each school and throughout the central office with space available for notes of appreciation.

  • Using #ThanksTeamOCS - employees, parents, students, and community members will be encouraged to tweet a thank you to an OCS employee.

  • OCS will tweet a message of appreciation each day and post a similar message on Facebook each day.

  • One random tweeter will be selected daily to win a gift card.

  • Information on individual school celebrations will be collected and shared with local media.

  • Videos and photos that are tweeted will be collected and used for a video that will play on G10.

Media specialist and DLTFs will be available at each school to assist with uploading videos and tweeting messages, etc.

Each school and department is encouraged to participate in the employee appreciation campaign and encouraged to consider department/school-led activities as well.
