Password Update
Laptop, VDI, Technology Work Orders, Printing, and Copying
Windows Login (Laptops and VDI)
Your Windows login is the login you use when signing in to your laptop or the VDI. (See Video: What is the VDI?) When your password expires, you will be prompted to change your password with the new one after logging in to your laptop or the VDI.
Password Requirements
Your new password must have at least:
- 8 characters
- one capital letter
- one lowercase letter
- one number
- Your password cannot be the same one you had within the last 4 passwords. It also can't have any part of your name.
Technology Work Orders
Your Window's log in is connected with the technology work order website. You will use the same new password you created for your Window's login when logging in to submit a technology work order. When your password expires, you must change your password on your laptop or the VDI. You will not be able to update your password on the technology work order's website.
Printer and Copier
Changing your password will also affect your printer/copier login, but you shouldn't have to log in on the copier (you can just keep using your badge like normal) unless you use the Sharescan option.
If you select Sharescan on the copier/printer, you will most likely get an "Authentication Failed" error after changing your expired Windows password. At that point you will just need to select the password box that shows up on the printer screen and enter in your new password.
Copier/Printer/Scanner Blues?
If your prints are not showing up, or if you're not able to log in to the copy machine, please call the technology helpdesk at 7777 with a classroom phone or 512-759-3771x7777 with a cell phone. If you're not able to get a hold of a technician, hang up and call back! There is usually someone in the office to answer phones. The only time everyone in the technology department is away from their desk is late Friday afternoon during their department meeting.
What about my actual Gmail password?
Currently your actual e-mail account is not linked with your windows login. Even though you are logging in with your full e-mail address as your username on your laptop, VDI, and the printer/copier, it is not currently linked with your actual e-mail account. The username is just the same. (Think of it like creating an account on a store's website for shopping. They may use your e-mail as your username, but it's not actually connected to your e-mail account. If you were to ever change your password on the shopping website, it wouldn't change your actual e-mail account password). However, the technology department realizes it would be easier if your e-mail account was connected to your laptop, VDI, and copier/printer account. One day in the future (not now), they will make this happen and everything will be connected. You will be notified when that change takes place.
CITs teach it! Technicians fix it!
Would you like support with technology in your classroom?
It's my job to help with technology integration. This includes one-on-one or group training, lesson planning, co-teaching, and finding technology resources.
Please e-mail me to schedule a time to meet. :)

Do you need help with an account, or do you need something replaced or fixed?
Please submit a work order, so your campus technician or a systems admin can get you what you need! I don't mind helping with quick fixes, but it's the campus technicians' and systems administrators' job help with technology issues.
