St Jerome's Newsletter
Week 3 - Term 2 (Thursday 6 May 2021)
God gave mothers special gifts, he made them all unique. But one thing that all mothers love, are kisses on their cheek. Nancy Burr.
Dear Parents
To begin a grammar lesson a teacher uploaded this sentence onto the screen, and then asked the students to correct it: ‘Woman without her man is nothing.’
The boys wrote: ‘Woman, without her man, is nothing’.
The girls wrote: ‘Woman, without her, man is nothing’.
I think the girls have it, and I’d agree even if my wife didn’t read our Newsletter, but she does. Mother’s Day is a very special day and I’m sure 50% of our readership would agree, and I do hope for all our mothers and grandmothers that Sunday is a wonderful celebration for the whole family.
The task of every child is to become independent and the task of all mothers is to help their children reach independence by allowing them to walk-and-fall, to make decisions that might sometimes come undone but in the process, to slowly take control of their lives.
Mothers are persons too, with their own special talents and their own special needs that need constant self-attention, as well as attention from all other family members.
To all our mothers and grandmothers, Happy Mother’s Day.
The Lord be with you
Chris
We should Pray
Mary, Mother of God, and spiritual Mother of us all, may all mothers who seek your help, experience your unfailing protection. Lead all mothers and their children to Your Son, Jesus. Amen.
Getting to School too Early
Parents, this morning there were 23 children at school before 8.00am. That was the count as I arrived. I am concerned with this number of children being here this early, when most of the staff are either still at home or on their way here.
OSHClub are here and open for business from 7.00am onwards, and I would suggest it is the best place for children to be this early in the morning.
We go live with supervision at 8.15am, and not before. I do need you to make a change as only together can we be assured a child’s care and safety is not compromised.

Gospel John 15:9-17
You are my friends if you do what I command you
Jesus said to his disciples:
‘As the Father has loved me,
so I have loved you.
Remain in my love.
If you keep my commandments
you will remain in my love,
just as I have kept my Father’s commandments
and remain in his love.
I have told you this
so that my own joy may be in you
and your joy be complete.
This is my commandment:
love one another, as I have loved you.
A man can have no greater love
than to lay down his life for his friends.
You are my friends,
if you do what I command you.
I shall not call you servants any more,
because a servant does not know
his master’s business;
I call you friends,
because I have made known to you
everything I have learnt from my Father.
You did not choose me:
no, I chose you;
and I commissioned you
to go out and to bear fruit,
fruit that will last;
and then the Father will give you
anything you ask him in my name.
What I command you
is to love one another.’
