What's been happening?!

Tax Ratification Election!

On December 12, 2015, LVISD will hold a Tax Ratification Election. The passage of the TRE
coupled with an Ordinance passed by the LVISD Board of Trustees would effectively move $0.02 from the Interest and Sinking Fund (I&S) to our Maintenance and Operations Fund (M&O). This shift would generate approximately $250,000 in additional state funding for the school district with NO INCREASE in tax rate for the LVISD taxpayers.

Please

Other Benefits of Doing Well on the PSAT:

  • Money for College: Students who mark “Yes” to Student Search Service™ when they take either the PSAT/NMSQT or the PSAT 10 automatically provide their results, making it easy for colleges and scholarship programs to find them and contact them. Millions of dollars are available.
  • Prepare for the SAT: Results from PSAT help establish a baseline measurement of students' college and career readiness. It also gives them a chance to preview the SAT test and develop a targeted study plan to do well.

Character Corner:

In support of October’s Red Ribbon Week, we are highlighting the character trait, “respect”.

Respect: a feeling of admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements.

Making daily, positive, healthy choices is an awesome way to show respect for ourselves and our future. Take time this month to talk to your teenager about the choices they make and how those choices can make a difference for their future achievements and well-being!

"Self-respect is the fruit of discipline; the sense of dignity grows with the ability to say no to oneself." Abraham Joshua Heschel

Interested in being a substitute teacher in LVISD? Our next sub training is Wednesday, October 21, 2015, beginning at 6:00 in the LVHS Performing Arts Center. All subs must attend a training before they are allowed to sub in LVISD.
