STAFF UPDATES
Welcome, Jennifer Hampton! Jennifer will join fourth grade as a special education co-teacher. She is familiar with our community - as she has two precious boys who attend MBES - Bryce is a rising third grader and Jake is a rising first grader.
Jennifer has over a decade of experience as a special education teacher, most recently in 4th/5th grades at Tritt.
Please reach out to welcome her and let her know why she has made a good choice to come to MBES! Jennifer.Hampton@cobbk12.org
Good Luck, Tim Kuykendall! Tim's last day at Mt. Bethel was on Friday, May 31st. He is now a custodian at Barber Middle School. Well-wishes for Tim may be sent to Timothy.Kuykendall@cobbk12.org .

We will not renew the license.
When we asked for survey feedback at the end of 2018, the overall school value for AR was a 2.4 out of 5.0, with THREE teams listing AR as a Level 1 (we don't use it at all), one team listing it as a level 5.0.
AR costs the school over $8,000 per year, and I cannot support the decision to continue to fund $8+ per student for a testing mechanism when half of the school reported no interaction with AR. We have many other reading assessment opportunities that are available to every teacher/student.
Books in the LC that were previously labeled with AR levels will continue to have that leveling. New books will likely not be labeled in that manner.
We wanted to give you this information in June so you can plan accordingly for your instruction moving forward.
MobyMax - UPGRADE to Moby Suite!
If you are interested, a lot of info below. If not so much, you can wait to look at Moby until late July/early August.
Our PTA has upgraded our MobyMax license to the complete Moby Suite. Now, in addition to Moby Learning, you have full access to Moby's three newest solutions:
- Moby Assessments pinpoints missing skills and clearly maps student progress with quick formative assessments from Skill Checker and deep summative assessments from Benchmarker. Click here for a 10-minute getting started tutorial.
- Moby Interactive includes a trio of modules, Whiteboard Activities, Printable Worksheets, and Skills Review, so teachers can better customize how they use MobyMax in their classrooms. Click here for a 15-minute getting started tutorial.
- Moby Real Rewards motivates student effort and positive behavior through contests, challenges, celebrations, and prizes. You can find out more about the Real Rewards events here. To enroll your class in an event, simply log in to MobyMax, click the Real Rewards icon, and select an event. As soon as the event begins, you'll be able to opt in. *Appleyard is not overly-enthusiastic about this, but if we have a group that wants to make it work, we can roll it out on a large scale.
If you did not previously utilize MobyMax, check out this 5-minute Getting Started video, or watch the Advanced Tutorial for a comprehensive overview.
Moby hosts live training webinars every Tuesday from 8:30-9:30 am and Thursday from 4:00-5:00 pm (EST). To view the webinar, click this link. You can join the audio conference by internet or phone.
One of the best parts about Moby is that you also have access to excellent customer service, easy-to-follow FAQs, and a robust video library.
Please do not hesitate to call (888-793-8331) or email (support@mobymax.com) at any time.
Thank you,
