PWNP June: Hygiene Kits
As communities reopen and summer heats up, hygiene is more important now than ever. Help People Who Need People (PWNP) create hygiene kits for local area shelters. Please shop for all necessary items to assemble a kit.
Under normal circumstances, we'd have bins at school available for drop-off. All donation orders will be delivered to an organizer's home for kit assembly. Please select "Randee Wilding" for shipping.
UPDATE
- Thank you so much! The first round of requested items were purchased and PWNP has added more items to the Amazon Wishlist.
- This effort will end on the last day of school, June 23rd!
- Friends and family are welcome to spread kindness by shopping too! Please feel free to share the Amazon Wishlist link or our PTA website post on social media:

BPES Interest Survey for Student Conversations
The HCPSS Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Office of Student Access and Achievement, Black Student Achievement Program, and the Restorative Justice Partnership have partnered to offer spaces for students to share and process their feelings during these difficult times. The above named offices and organizations have developed a plan to offer a check-in virtually. If your student would be interested in participating in a one-hour Google Meet virtual session around the topics of race and racism, please fill out the survey.
Filling out the survey will help us to plan for the number of sessions we can offer, as well as, provide an expert to facilitate the session. Each session will also have a school team staff member present who is familiar to our students.
Currently, the availability of the facilitators is for Monday, June 15 from 11:00am-12:00pm. We will open up additional sessions based on the number of students interested. The Google Meet code for registered students will be shared via email on the morning of Monday, June 15.

Writing Workshop
About Rana's book:
YOU are Noor Inayat Khan. You grew up surrounded by the lessons your parents valued the most: nonviolence, music, writing, and the arts. When World War II begins, you leave your life behind to spy for the Resistance. Will the years of training you've had in the Special Operations Executive help you go undetected by your enemies?
About Rana:
Rana Tahir is a Kundiman Fellow, a public school substitute teacher, and a teaching associate in the Department of English at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon where she earned her MFA. She was born in Pakistan and raised on the beaches of Kuwait. Tahir’s poetry and prose has been published in various literary publications and magazines such as Catch, The Interlochen Review, and Fresh! Literary Magazine. Her first book of non-fiction, a biography of the poet Countée Cullen, was published in 2016 with Cavendish Square Press. She is excited to return to Portland, Oregon with her husband and hopes to be joined by a cat soon. When not at her desk preparing lesson plans, writing, or researching, she can be found jumping into lakes and rivers during long hikes, even though she always forgets a bathing suit and must sit in the car in her cold, wet clothes on the ride home. She is a Cancer sun and moon, so she never regrets being in water.
