Wrangler Families,
Looking to this week, we have our Art Walk School Showcase on Tuesday, May 24th from 6:00pm-7:00pm. It will be a fun-filled evening for all students and their families. Hope to see you all there! Also, there is no school this Friday, May 27th and Monday, May 30th.

Author Visit ~ J. Scott Savage
Author J. Scott Savage will be discussing his latest book, The lost Wonderland Diaries, with grades 3-5, at 1:45pm, on June 1st . Students may purchase his latest book in hardcover or his previous books in paperback for the author to sign when he is on campus.
Please return the attached form by Monday, May 23rd in order for the books to arrive by the 1st of June. He will also be presenting and signing books at Barnes & Noble- Westlake on Friday June 3rd at 6:00pm.

Book Fair is Back!
Scholastic Book Fair is here! Book fair sales profit support our library budget for the entire year. Start the summer off with a few good books to help prevent the ‘summer slide’ in reading skills.
Purchases may be made in person during lunches, and after school Monday through Thursday, until 3:30pm. Special TK and Kindergarten hours 1:30-2:00 on Tuesday and Thursday. The book fair will also be open during the Art Walk on Tuesday evening 6:00pm-7:30pm.

Counseling News!
Odyssey of the Mind Results!
Two Lang Ranch teams qualified to move on to the Odyssey World Finals by placing 3rd and 1st in the Matryoshka balsa wood structure problem at the SoCal Odyssey of the Mind state competition. They chose to compete in World Finals virtually this year. They had to quickly build new structures, refine their state solutions, and film their new solutions within the deadline two weeks after the state competition. Results were announced via YouTube on May 7th.
Coming in 3rd place Lang Ranch team B, 4th graders: Rohan, Marissa, Ferris, Christina, Anusha M, and Amr. This team is coached by Mrs Lauterman
Placing 1st, just ahead of a Hong Kong China team, Lang Ranch team A, 4th and 5th graders: Ryan, Joanna, Leo, Mia, Niva, Inay, and Sean K. This team is coached by parents Ye Shen and Diana Wickham.
Congratulations on bringing Lang Ranch’s best ever placement at World Finals!
Lang Ranch has many students interested on joining Odyssey of the Mind teams. If you are interested in coaching please reach out to Mrs. Lauterman mlauterman@conejousd.org . No experience necessary, we will provide training.

This year we have secured over forty (40) volunteer tutors from our high schools who are ready to assist our students with academic support.
Additionally, we have confirmed approximately ten (10) volunteer tutors from CLU who have agreed to partner with CVUSD this year.

Community Tree Opportunity!
With your years at Lang Ranch Elementary coming to a close what better way to Commemorate your family’s time at the Ranch and share your Wrangler pride than by becoming a part of our Community Tree!
The Lang Ranch Community Tree is a beautiful oak sculpture that is permanently displayed in our school’s lobby. Your family’s name or business will be engraved on a brass plaque that will be added to our Community Tree. Your tax deductible donation will be used to support the various PTA programs.

Yearbooks for Sale
If you haven’t purchased your yearbook yet, there is still time.
The price will increase to $37.00
The presale of the yearbook will end on April 15th. After the presale, remaining yearbooks will be sold during the last week of school on a first come first serve basis at $40 (cash only). Purchase your yearbook here to receive the early bird savings!
5th Grade parents: We will be looking for “Then and Now” pictures. It’s time to dig out those pictures from Kindergarten, 1st grade, or even preschool and recreate them. Find the same group of students, line them up in the same order, and submit both pictures labeled “then and now.”

ATTENDANCE UPDATE!
For any all day absences, call our attendance line at 805-241-4417, option #1 or email the attendance liaison at kkawaguchi@conejousd.org to report an absence with a detailed reason for absence including symptoms of illness and any possible COVID exposures.
We wanted to remind all Wrangler families that if your student is exhibiting any of the following symptoms, please keep them home and call our attendance office 805-241-4417.
· *Fatigue/muscle or body aches
· *Congestion/runny nose
· *Nausea/vomiting/diarrhea
· *Sore throat
· *Headache
· *Fever 99.5 or higher
· *Cough
· *Difficulty breathing
· *Loss of taste or smell
It is important that all positive cases of COVID-19 are reported to the health office. If your student tests positive for COVID-19 we need to know in order to ensure we are supporting your student through their recovery. If your student has been exposed to someone who tests positive for COVID-19 we will assist you with the proper steps to avoid continued transmission and support your student while they are quarantined. No student who tests positive or has been exposed may be on campus for any reason during their quarantine period. The health and safety of our student body and staff is a top priority. If you have any questions or concerns related to COVID-19, please reach out to our office.
