Civility & Kindness Challenge Week
At Wolfsville we work everyday to support our student's academic progress as well as nurture their social-emotional growth and wellness. In fact, our CATS expectations highlight common behavior norms for our students and staff that span well beyond classroom performance.
This week in FCPS we are celebrating Civility & Kindness. Our system has challenged students and schools to highlight and promote a kind and civil environment in our schools, at home and in our community. Please talk with your child at home about the importance of their actions and ways to engage in acts of kindness that make a difference in our homes, school and community!
C- come prepared to learn
A- always show respect
T- take ownership for your actions
S- strive for excellence
Yours in Education,
Megan Stein

Winter Weather
Cooler temperatures are finally upon us! Please make sure your child dresses appropriately for the fluctuating temperatures. Unless there is inclement weather, students go outside for a 20 minute recess each day. They often need extra coats or layers for this time! We encourage you to write your child's name on the inside tag of their coats or sweatshirts.
Hearing and Vision Re-Screening
Hearing and Vision Re-Screening will take place at Wolfsville Elementary School, on Monday, February 11, 2019. Parents/guardians who have an objection to this screening based on the tenets and/or practice of their church or religion must submit a request for their child to be exempt from screening. All written requests must be submitted to the health room asap. Please make sure if your child wears glasses or contacts that they have them on the screening days. If you have any questions please contact the health room at 240-236-2240.
Wolfsville Literacy Night
Please join us in the Library Media Center for an evening of reading and relaxing on Tuesday, February 26th from 5:00-7:30! This open format time will allow parents and students to join in reading activities together. Our Literacy Specialist, Mrs. Cassidy and Library Media Specialist, Ms. Valentovish will be hosting the event and available for learning opportunities throughout the exploratory evening. Join us for the night or feel free to stop by for a bit of time that works best for your family!
Information From our Health Room
We have recently seen a spike in the spread of contagious viruses throughout our school. As we continue through cold and flu season please adhere to the guidelines below.
When should I keep my child home?
Based on information obtained from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), your child should stay home from school if he/she has one or more of the following symptoms:
- Temperature of more than 100
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Undiagnosed rash or skin infection
Please keep your child home from school for 24 hours after the last episode of vomiting, fever, and/or diarrhea. Please do not give your child a Tylenol, Advil or any fever reducing medications and send them to school. They may still be contagious. If these symptoms persist for more than 24 hours, you should contact your child’s health care provider.
To help ensure a healthy experience at school and help prevent illness:
- Notify the Health Room Staff if your child is being treated for strep throat, pneumonia, conjunctivitis, etc.
- Make sure your child washes their hands frequently (i.e. before meals, after restroom use, after playing, after sneezing/coughing in their hands, when visibly dirty, etc.) to cut down on the spreading of germs.
Out of District Applications
Dates for applying to attend a school outside the usual attendance area are January 2-March 1.*
FCPS will post the out-of-district application online on January 2 in the section For Families and Students at www.fcps.org. Those needing a paper copy may call 240-236-2493 after January 2.
