A Note From the Principal
Please see important information below about our Active Lockdown Drill on Tuesday. You can also view my message to students on Friday's RioTV episode below. Additionally, there was a date change for PTSA's Presto Pasta Fundraiser night, which will be this Tuesday (both lunch and dinner). Below you can download the flyer as well.
In this issue learn more about:
- COC's Road to Employment Day geared toward students
- Information from Food Service
- Updated Information from the City Bus Routing for Rio Norte
In addition to my message about the upcoming drill, I took a moment at the end of my speech to capitalize on Mr. Hankins' visit, and utilize some wise words from Dr. King, to impress upon our students the value of being kind. I hope you will take a moment to view it and then spend some time talking with your student about the reflection I've asked them to do this weekend, while taking the opportunity to discuss as a family, what you are doing for others.
Have a wonderful three-day weekend!
Active Lockdown DRILL
On Tuesday, January 17th (the day after the MLK Holiday), we will have an active lockdown drill. Previously our drills have been educational in the advisory classroom. Now that students know what to do, we will practice going from an "active" situation outside of classes to see how quickly we can lock our campus down and ensure students know what to do should an actual event ever occur. The drill will take place some time before 11 a.m. and will be at a time when students are not in classes. Again this is just an opportunity to practice and assess what we have taught. Parents will receive an email reminder the morning of the drill.
