TO PARENTS: Students are getting the hang of 2nd grade and the procedures and expectations that have been set up for the year. With this being said, we are also holding them more accountable for the choices they are making. In LA/SS there have been many discussions about good citizenship (what is looks and sounds like) and what the word integrity means. You may begin seeing both positive notes and notes of concern coming home in your child’s agenda…because this is the beginning of the year I wouldn't be too alarmed. Students have to see their teachers are following through with the expectations and consequences that have been established (just like we have to do as parents). If your student does come home with a note of concern see it as an opportunity to talk about the choices they're making and help them brainstorm alternative solutions. You are always welcome to contact your teacher with questions or concerns you may have about any communication noted within your child’s agenda.
*SUGGESTED APPS TO DOWNLOAD AT HOME*
MATH NINJA- practice math facts. You can choose the operation you would like to practice.
READ 100 MINUTES A WEEK. IT IS SUGGESTED THE STUDENTS READ 20 MINUTES A NIGHT FOR 5 NIGHTS. Students may have homework coming home throughout the week from small group Champs.
Tuesday- Mrs. Adair's Library Day.
Wednesday- Mrs. Buchmiller's Library Day.
Thursday- Ms. Ballenger's Library Day.
Friday- Mrs. Zembower's Library Day.
Wear your favorite spirit wear.
Weekend- Have an SUPER weekend :)
WHAT ARE WE LEARNING ABOUT THIS WEEK
SCIENCE: How can we teach students about the Earth’s features and resources? Students will show their learning this week by creating a project to share with future Earth Experts.
LANGUAGE ARTS/SOCIAL STUDIES: citizenship; students will understand the characteristics of a good citizen.
Comprehension strategy: Making & confirming predictions
Writing: Letter Format
