Principal Corner
Dear Smith Stallion Parents and Students,
It was a great week of learning this week! We have completed MAP testing and our students did an incredible job. Students worked hard to meet their growth goalS. Great job, Smith Stallions!
Our Valentine's Day Class Parties will be Friday, February 11, 2022 from 1:45 p.m. - 2:45 p.m. We are limiting the number of parents that come to help with the party to two (2) total. Thank you for understanding as we transition back to normal school operations. If you are interested in helping with the party, please contact your child’s teacher. We will not be in school on Monday, February 14, 2022.
INCLEMENT WEATHER OR AMI DAYS:
There will be times in the next couple of months that your child will bring home their devices (Chromebooks or iPads) if there is a chance for inclement weather and school being canceled because of bad weather. This would more than likely be considered as an AMI Day, meaning your child would be completing their assignments at home on their device.
Here are some important points related to potential inclement weather or AMI Days:
Your child will bring home their device and their charger. There will be times that we send home devices in anticipation of inclement weather due to the forecast. See #5 below regarding School Closure due to Inclement Weather.
Your child’s device should come back to school with them on the day they return to school. To keep the devices safe, it is important that your child keep their device in their backpack at all times when not being used.
Your child should only get their device out during school hours: 7:45 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
On AMI Days, your child’s teacher will be available through email and classroom Remind between school hours: 7:45 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
If you have not signed an AUA form, your child will not be allowed to bring home their device.
School Closure will be announced on our district website, school website, and our school Facebook Page early in the morning. You can also see what districts are closed on all the local television stations.
ATTENDANCE:
Student attendance is extremely important! Your child’s day begins at 7:45 a.m. each morning. Our doors open at 7:15 a.m. with free breakfast in the cafeteria until 7:40 a.m. We understand situations will occur occasionally, but we want to ask you to make a commitment to help your child get their day started off right each day by being on time.
DISMISSAL:
Our car rider line in the afternoon is going great! We appreciate everyone staying in their cars and helping us move the car line at an efficient pace. Having the student number available also helps keep the line moving. If you are unsure about your child’s assigned number, please call the office. We will be able to help you.
Just to let you know, the line is usually cleared by 3:20 p.m. It is imperative that you are at school no later than 3:30 p.m. Our duty personnel go off duty at 3:30 p.m. each afternoon. Thank you again for your help following our car rider dismissal procedure.
