Gloucester High School - Newsletter- February 2nd, 2018
Partnership. Performance. Pride.
Hello Parents,
We had a very busy, successful week at GHS. All course selection information was presented to 9th through 11th grade students on Monday. They should all be well-informed of the immediate and long-term impacts that course enrollment has on them. They should also have a sense of appreciation for "living in reality" and taking action now towards their aspirations of the future. You and your child can now view our "Course of Study Bulletin" under the Guidance link on our website. Tuesday's NCAA presentation reviewed the requirements of eligibility to partipate in athletics at the collegiate level in addition to the realities of recruiting. I will share a video with you next week on this topic.
The week ahead is "National School Counseling Week." Each year, the American School Counselors Association celebrates this week to focus public attention on the unique contribution of school counselors within U.S. school systems. This week highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career. Join us in letting our counselors know how much their contributions to our school community are valued.
Below, you will find a short video communicating what parents of high school students need to know about AP courses, their expectations, and their many benefits. These courses are the most authentic "testing grounds" high schooI students can challenge themselves within in order to best prepare not just for college enrollment but for the achievement of a college diploma. I have also included some additional AP resources for parents to explore in this week's newsletter.
All 1st semester grades are now available for you to view in MMS. Make sure to check out the January issue of our student newspaper by clicking on the link towards the bottom of the newsletter.
In Partnership,
Sean Gorman
