MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL MURPHY

Hello Parents!

I asked our Parenting Team if I could pin a space on their weekly newsletter to share updates with our community and they said...ABSOLUTELY!

This last week was a sad one for us at NCCAES as we said goodbye to our beloved Officer Marshall. Officer Marshall spent 7 years at NCCAES and was a fabric of our school and he will be missed. We wish him the best in his retirement and know he will enjoy being able to spend more time with his family in his next chapter.

Enjoy the Recap Video

Around school we are getting ready to start our iReady March Mathness! The brackets are up and the kids are excited for the competition to begin. Be sure to check in with your students on how they are contributing to their classes' lessons passed as this is what advances you to the next bracket!

And lastly I wanted to share some pictures of the math facts which have been popping up around our school. There is never a missed opportunity to add to our students math fluency at NCCAES, even if it is when you are walking down the hall!

February NCCAE Service Project

DID YOU KNOW?

1 in 3 families in the US reports struggling with diaper need.

Infants and toddlers require six to ten diapers per day.

An adequate supply of diapers is a basic need and is essential to a child’s healthy development.

Government programs like WIC and SNAP do not cover diapers. For countless families, having enough diapers is a constant struggle. Without diapers, children cannot attend daycare, which may prevent parents from making an income. Diapers are not funded by WIC and SNAP programs, and without this financial assistance, babies are left in their diapers longer, leading to severe diaper rash that could lead to other medical problems.

NCCAE 2nd Graders take on this project annually to help families in need. Please consider donating. Your donation will make a huge difference in the lives of families in need.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR FAMILY LITERACY NIGHT!

At Literacy Night, families will have the opportunity to participate in literacy games in classrooms, play sight word bingo and visit our Book Fair. Each grade level will have a sight word bingo winner with prizes sponsored by Kona Ice! You don't want to miss this event!

(Our NCCAE PTA General meeting will be at 5:00 p.m. right before this event)

Important Attendance Notifications

Please be advised that our school will continue to review attendance records of students that have accrued more than 3 consecutive unexcused absences or 5 total unexcused absences. If your child's attendance record reflects the above description, they are considered truant and a letter will be sent home to schedule an attendance conference.

If you receive a letter for an attendance conference, please make arrangements to attend. If you need to reschedule the conference, please contact the school to set a new conference date.

When a student is absent, the school office must receive a valid excuse, written by the parent or guardian, within three (3) days after the student returns to school. This excuse must contain: student’s name, teacher’s name, date(s) of absence, specific reason for absence and signature of parent or guardian. Excuses received via email will NOT be accepted, as they must be written and signed by the parent.

"Students who attend school regularly have been shown to achieve at higher levels than students who do not have regular attendance. This relationship between attendance and achievement may appear early in a child's school career."
