SCHOOL SAFETY
SMILE! You're on camera! Ardmore Elementary School staff and student security are our utmost priorities. Exterior doors are locked at all times. Parents, visitors, and guests must access the building through the main front entrance.
Security systems and surveillance cameras have been installed throughout all school areas. The school’s main door has a camera bell, which is directly linked to the main office. Please ring the bell and provide the reason for your visit .
All visitors MUST report to the main office to obtain a computerized ID badge. This ID badge is in the form of a sticker that must be worn on clothing and must be visible at all times while in the school building. Only valid driver’s license or state IDs will be recognized.
Together we can maintain a safe learning environment for our Ardmore students!!! Our students and staff thank you!
ATTENDANCE POLICY
School achievement begins with regular attendance. Parents/guardians must ensure that all school-age children arrive to school daily on time! School personnel will report attendance problems or concerns to parents/guardians in a timely manner.
Parents are required to send a signed written note with a reason for absence. Documentation may be requested for absences of three or more consecutive days.
It is imperative for students to be on time at the beginning of each school day. School instruction begins at 7:35 am. School attendance is recorded during this time. Schools are required to admit students to school regardless of the time they arrive.
Students who arrive late to school must report to the main office to obtain a late pass before being admitted to a classroom or other area of the school. This pass must be shown to all of the student’s teachers as the student reports to each class during the day, as well as to teachers of any missed classes during the next school day.
If the student does not show the pass to all teachers, the tardy will be UNEXCUSED.
For tardiness to be excused, students are required to provide a note from the parent/guardian explaining the reason for the tardiness.
Check the PGCPS Student's Rights and Responsibilities Handbook for more information.
Just a few reminders about student's attendance at Ardmore:
- If your child arrives after 7:45 a.m. they are considered late.
- Early dismissals are not permitted after 1:30 p.m.
