TCAP Testing

April 27-May 1 will be TCAP Achievement Testing at South Lincoln School. On April 27 we will check demographics and actual testing will beTuesday-Friday. 3rd-8th grade students will NOT test on Friday, May1 because there is no Social Studies TCAP test this year. (Students in grades 3-8 will take a pilot Social Studies test the week following TCAP.) Please make every effort to have your child at school and on time. School begins at 7:45, but they need to be here sooner so teachers have time to get ready to begin testing at 8:00. There will be no checkouts (K-8) during the morning testing block of time. Visitors will not be permitted past the main office. The school lunchroom will provide free breakfast for K-2 students on Tuesday through Friday. 3rd – 8th students will receive free breakfast Tuesday through Thursday.

Please help us on testing days:

  • See that your child is rested.
  • See that your child arrives on time and is relaxed.
  • Encourage your child to do the best work possible, results are now averaged into their report card grades for the second semester.
  • Remind your student that no pillows, no blankets, no house shoes or sleepwear are allowed.

3rd-5th grade students will have TCAP count 15% of their second semester average. 6th- 8thgrade will have TCAP count 20% of their second semester average.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Jennifer Turpen, Curriculum Coordinator/Asst. Principal

Sideline Chair Promotion

Forever be “on the BENCH” at South Lincoln - Show your South Lincoln Pride!

The South Lincoln basketball and volleyball programs are in need of sideline chairs. It is our goal to purchase 36 CUSTOM SIDELINE CHAIRS for basketball and volleyball to use during their games and matches. It is our desire to run first-class athletic programs; in order to do that, we must have that first-class look.

The customized chairs are $100 each. They will be customized specifically with our school logo and school colors. For each chair purchased, we will have a customized 3x5 plaque created honoring you and your donation. The plaques will be permanently secured on the back of the chairs in order for you to always be “on the bench” at South Lincoln.

See Coach Austin, Coach Beddingfield or Coach Wright for a form or for more information.

Washington DC Trip - Spring 2016

A trip is being planned to tour Washington DC during Spring Break 2016. For information, you may contact Mr. Harry pharry@lcdoe.org

Car Rider Drop-Off Reminders

Parents with students that are car riders need to drop off students on the East end of building and not in front of the school. The only students that are to be dropped off in front of the building are students that are boarding buses for NGA and LCHS.

As you line up on Cash Road to pick up children or drop them off, please stay on the "right" side of the Cash Road. This will allow property owners who live on Cash Road the ability to exit out of their driveway onto Cash Road and then turn on to Smith Mill Road.

Also, please remember to display your "car tag number" when you are picking up students in the afternoon.

Bad Weather, Snow Days, etc

If weather conditions create a change in the regular school day, announcements regarding early dismissal will be made on WYTM-FM & WEKR-AM (Fayetteville) Radio Stations. Parents will also receive the automated call from the department of education if schools are to be delayed, released early or cancelled. The contact numbers that parents listed for emergency calls were entered in the data base at the beginning of the school year in order to receive these calls. If you change your contact numbers, please update your contact information in the schools office. These announcements will also be made on local Huntsville television stations (19,31, & 48) They will be made on Nashville television stations also. (2,4, & 5). Please try not to call the school unless you need to make changes to your child's transportation.

Sub Drivers Needed

Applications are now being taken for those interested in driving a school bus. For more information, you may contact Mr. Keith Gill (Supervisor of Transportation) at 433-5733 or email him at kgill@lcdoe.org
