Math
We have finished our first math unit on multiplication and division! On Monday, we will have a review day before taking the Unit Test on Tuesday. Although, we will be focusing on different topics in math, we will still be doing daily M.A.D Minutes for students to monitor their progress on their multiplication and division facts. I encourage parents to continue to practice math facts with their child at home as these facts will be an essential part of our math program for the remainder of the year.
Reading and Language Arts
I am very excited to announce that students will be participating in Literature Circles as part of our small group reading centers. Literature Circles are independent groups that students will meet with to discuss a novel they are reading. Like a book club, Literature Circles are based on the idea that good books spark good conversations. Currently, our entire class is reading Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing by Judy Bloom so that I can model to students how the groups will work, but groups will be picking their fist novel to read indepently later in the week.
