News from the Health Office

NYS mandates that all 5th grade girls be screened for scoliosis by the school nurse if the health office does not have a copy of a current well child exam for the 5th grade. These exams must be dated 9/01/17 or later to be considered current for the 2018-2019 school year. If you had not done so already, please forward a copy of your child’s current well child check to the nurse’s office asap. For students who have not provided a copy of a current physical, the school nurse will begin scoliosis screening in March.

February Kindness at Klem South Challenge

The essential skill for the month of February is COMMUNICATION. This month, we will focus on communicating through words of love, compassion and kindness with a whole-school challenge. Students will track different acts of kindness throughout the month. Our goal is to simply increase our positive interactions with one another at Klem South! At home, you can support this challenge by talking to your children about kindness and compassion. Thanks for all that you do!

We are still collecting shampoos, conditioners, and soaps!

February break is typically a popular time to travel. If you find yourself traveling but don’t use the hotel soaps, please bring them back and send them to school with your child. All soaps, shampoos, conditioners, or travel size items are collected in a black bins in the entryway of the school. My class will take these items and bag them into individual bags to be distributed to students in need. We have done this for the past few years and the recipients are super grateful. We are also collecting sandwich size ZipLoc bags if you would like to donate those as well. Contact meghann_piwko@webstercsd.org if you have any questions.
