Feb. 20-24 Newsletter
Select middle school students participated in a living museum today and represented significant African Americans from past and present. They spoke with visiting classes from elementary and middle school and "came alive" with historic content. We are excited for some of the students to repeat their performances in next week's Black History Month assembly for all to learn from them. Our assembly will also feature the Band, Chorus, and Step/Dance team.
Elementary students participated in the "Admiral Running Regatta" today. Students enjoyed some extra time out on the track with their grade level friends and administrative team while the teachers participated in a Black History Month Luncheon.
Next week our campus will have a surprise visit from Captain Fear and the Tampa Bay Buccaneer Cheerleaders for our outstanding participation in the "Raise the Flags" Spirit days! We also look forward to "Read Across America Day' next week with special activities in the Media Center.
Ms. Lennard was happy to accept a donation this week from the Waterset Turkey Trot. This generous donation will help York purchase soccer goals for our field. We know the future soccer players of York will be excited for this addition!
At the start of the year, parents signed the Magnet School Acknowledgement which includes an agreement to "Be aware of and follow all transportation system routines and procedures." If you are arriving after our staff has stopped taking names and the safety patrol/teachers have left their posts, please be prepared to show your license to check your student out from the office. Students will no longer be standing outside, and late pick-ups will be documented if you are arriving after the carline has ended.
