Roadrunner Report
By Ms. Benitez, Principal Monroe May Elementary
PARENTS, NISD WANTS YOUR FEEDBACK.
NISD is seeking your input on a brief, confidential research survey. The purpose of this study is to find out more about what you want for your child’s education, and the decisions parents make when it comes to where their child attends school. The end goal is to continue to improve and refine our culture, staff, academic and extracurricular programs, and overall learning experience.
I encourage you to take a moment to complete this brief research survey, which can be accessed online using a computer, tablet, or smartphone. The survey is administered by a third-party research firm and your responses are completely anonymous. Click on the button below to complete the survey.
SAFETY FIRST! As a reminder parents, please drive safely in the drive through lanes and the parking lot. Many parents send their child through the parking lot, or walk with their child through the parking lot. At any moment, a family can be walking from their car into the lane. We are grateful for the support of SAPD during school zone hours. Remember to use the crosswalk and drive 20 m.p.h. through the school zones.

What is WATCH D.O.G.S.?
It's a program for Dad of Great Students (D.O.G.S.). Fathers, and father figures can spend half a day or a full day volunteering on our campus. This includes being visible among students during PE, lunch, recess and spending a little time with your student in their classroom. NISD requires a background check for all volunteers. It may take up to a week to get the background check processed. Please get a head start and fill yours out here https://hrvolunteer.nisd.net/TempMod.nsf?Open

Student Health
Children should be kept at home when ill and have a normal temperature for 24 hours after any illness before returning to school. Ensure your child returns to school according to the date listed on the doctor's note.
Medication Policy: For the protection of all students, the clinic has strict rules regarding medication to be given at school. Medication must be accompanied by a medication form completed by a medical provider along with a properly labeled prescription bottle. These forms can be obtained in the school clinic. All medications must be brought in by an adult.
Parents make sure you stay up to date on your child’s immunizations! We encourage you to take advantage of our Mobile Clinics around town, which provide a convenient way to stay up to date. Please contact the clinic for upcoming dates or log on to our NISD website and search Mobile clinic.
