Message from the Principal

Hello Cougar families!

We have gotten off to a great start this week! What a joy it has been to see our students in person and online! As I walked through classrooms this week, my heart was full! The beginning of the year is an exciting time filled with hope and promise. We look forward to all the amazing things our Keith Cougars will learn and accomplish this year!

I would like to thank you all for your patience and understanding as we have refined our procedures throughout the week to make our arrival and dismissal procedures more efficient. Our number one priority is student safety, and we will continue to revise our practices in order to get our students home in a safe and timely manner. In order to stay connected when a bus is late, be sure you have signed up for SchoolMessenger to receive any text or email alerts we send.

Again, I want to thank you for entrusting us with your children. We look forward to a spectacular year!

Thank you,

Julie Clements

Parents, Check this out!

Did you know that students scan their ID badges when they get on and off the bus? Cy-Fair has a system in place that you will be able to check to see where your child is while on the bus! You get instant notifications via text or email. Please click here to read about the Zonar Systems and how to get set up for your child to ride the bus!

Credit By Exam Information

Students in grades K-5 will have four opportunities during the school year to use “credit-by-exam” to accelerate to another grade level. Students will only have one opportunity to test for each grade level considered.

To apply to take the test to skip kindergarten, a student must be 5 by September 1, and registered in a CFISD school. To apply to take the test to skip grade 1, a student must be 6 by September 1, and enrolled in a CFISD school.

Students who earn scores of 80% or better on each component of the credit-by-exam will qualify to advance one grade. Only one grade level may be “skipped” each year. No retests will be given.

Gifted (GT) Testing Information

If you would like to have your student tested for the GT program, please ask your child’s teacher for a parent permission form. All GT parent permission forms for testing are due by Friday, November 19th, no exceptions. If the deadline is missed, your child will have to wait until the next school year to be tested. GT testing will take place early in Spring 2022.

NEW for this year – ALL Kindergarten students will be GT tested in Spring 2022. Parents do not need to request GT parent permission forms to nominate Kindergarten students.
