Hello Landshark Nation!
Thank you for your ongoing help in supporting our teachers as they continue to build on the structures and routines of being back in school. This includes their daily routines, schedules and yes....HOMEWORK. Please understand the point of homework is to reinforce skills taught and to teach students and reinforce the work ethics and teach responsibility. This is not meant to be perfectly completed or take hours to complete. Most homework involves reading EVERY night for 20-30 minutes, which is just a good habit, and a small assignment, either through their classroom platform (Seesaw/Google) or a worksheet style. Thank you for checking their backpacks EVERY day.
Within this newsletter you will find some NEW INFORMATION AT THE TOP and REMINDERS following:
NEW INFORMATION:
- Progress Reports: these go home on Wednesday 10-20, please look for these in your students folders or digitally through REMIND.
- Book Fair: In school, the week of October 25th. Students fliers will go home this week.
- Trunk or Treat for the students and Families: Thursday October 28th from 5:30-7:00, see flyer attached. **CLICK ON THE LINK***
- Attendance: please be sure to send your children to school EVERY day. We are monitoring our attendance very closely. They should only remain home if: they have a fever, vomiting or diarrhea and should be symptom free for 24 hours before their return. If they have pink eye/strep throat etc..they can return after being on the medication for 24 hours. If they have had a doctor appointment, we can excuse this, but ONLY if we are provided with a note from the doctors office. Thank you for sending them daily.
REMINDERS:
- COVID Consent letter and links to sign up for Pooled testing, Symptomatic Testing, and Test and Stay. These tests are done IN SCHOOL. There is only ONE consent for permission. We are only allowed to test, if you have completed the form providing permission.
- 21st Century Afterschool Programming: PROGRAM Starts Monday October 18th, so a wait list may be in place. If you are still interested, please sign up.

Book Fair: Week of October 25th- 29th, students will be able to go to the actual book fair during the school day AND the Book Fair will be open at the Trunk or Treat for all families from
5:30-7:00 on Thursday evening, for people wishing to shop for books then.

Any students who have emergency medications (Epi-Pens, inhalers, etc.) or who will receive medication in school MUST have a medication order from the prescribing physician AND a completed consent form from the City Health Department. Forms and medication can be dropped off to the school nurse on the first day of school. The school nurse cannot administer ANY medications without a physician's order, including over-the-counter medications. Please make sure that the school nurse is provided refills in advance of any medication supply running out.
Please also be sure that the nurse has updated vaccination records. In addition, any absence related to a doctor appointment- please be sure to get a Dr. note, so that we may document it as an excused absence.
MASKS ARE REQUIRED FOR ALL STAFF-STUDENTS OR PEOPLE ENTERING THE BUILDING
