Week Four of The BSC SKILLS WORLD CUP
Shooting
There are many different types of shots on goal depending on what is needed to beat the goal keeper in that particular situation.
A good shot is not always a tremendously hard shot – some of the best goals are scored because the person taking the shot has put the ball right next to the goal post making almost impossible for a goal keeper to save.
When you practice shooting, make sure to have a target that is near the goal post. Try to the kick the ball hard, but make sure you have control and can hit the target. A well placed shot is often a better option than blasting the ball as hard as you can.
Make sure you practice with both feet! The ability to shoot with both feet make you a very dangerous attacker!
Long and Accurate Kicks
The ability to play long, accurate passes is very important.
These passes can be on or near the ground or can be driven in the air.
Practice taking long kicks but make sure you have a target. It is great to be able to kick a ball a long ways, but you need to be able to control where it goes.
You can do this on a field or at the park, aiming at a target and see if you can get close.
A great way to practice this is to play soccer golf with a friend. Take turns picking targets and see how many kicks it takes for you to hit the target.
SheBelieves Virtual Network
To maintain the spirit of SheBelieves and to provide resources to help Her achieve her dreams, we bring to you the SheBelieves Virtual Network, a series of week-long themed programming starting on Monday, May, 18.
Developed with college students and young professionals in mind, the SheBelieves Virtual Network will include live panels, webinars and exclusive content featuring prominent women in diverse fields from STEM to sports. As a continuation of U.S. Soccer’s 2020 SheBelieves efforts, this week-long initiative is designed to provide support, inspiration and real-world tools for young women. Speakers and workshops will address key topics related to confidence, leadership and wellness to help young women continue to stay on track toward their goals, especially in today’s uncertain times. Space in webinars is limited and those interested in attending can register now through the SheBelieves Hub on ussoccer.com.
Check out the schedule below and keep an eye on the SheBelieves Hub at ussoccer.com/shebelieves and U.S. Soccer’s social channels for additional SheBelieves content throughout the week!

Club Update as of 5.15.20
Academy Families,
It is now time to confirm the disappointing news regarding the spring soccer season. The Capital District Youth Soccer League (CDYSL) voted to cancel the spring season at its meeting this past week. Additionally, the club was informed that the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association has instructed clubs that all soccer activities, practices and games are canceled until further notice, and no insurance coverage would be in effect during this period.
The club administration is working with the board of directors to finalize how we will handle credits/refunds for all academy players. We ask for your patience as we will need to review each individual account. We will then provide you with further details and instructions on how credits for registration fees will be processed.
Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.
