Ten months ago we came together as one school...
Note from the Principal
We started the year celebrating our National Blue Ribbon Award. We were one of almost 270 public schools recognized in the United States for Excellence. Thank you to the parents and teachers for all you do to help make GES a school of academic excellence!
The fall started off with an exciting Gator Gallop, Fall Festival and Career Week. During career week many parents visited the schools to share about their career choices. We appreciate your willingness to share with all children what it takes to pursue different careers.
The year continued with a great fourth grade musical, movie nights, a successful science fair for our children, and the choir concert. Kindergarten and second grade put on musicals as well. Thank you parents for your time and dedication in bringing students early to school or picking up late so that our children could practice and improve their skills!
Students at all levels work on STEM
Students learning to use the IPAD as an educational tool
Our study trips lead into great inquiry projects!
Students enjoy the hands on activities that our teachers provide!
Real life experiences allow our students to apply their learning!
Students work together and learn the value of collaboration.
The winter and early spring brought about the 2nd ever Marketplace with over $7,000 going to various charities. We celebrated Earth Day and beautified the grounds. This year our students have raised over $40,000 for the American Heart Society, Leukemia Society, families in need, Emily's Kart and more. Our children are learning to give and be kind to others. We have focused our lifeskill teachings on integrity, patience, manners, compassion, self control, open-mindedness, accountability and empathy. Take time to watch our Patience video. Feel free to reinforce those character skills over the summer! We are a Gator all year long not just during school so we must continue to do the right thing and treat people right- each day and everywhere!!!!
Academically, our students made great strides in their learning. Our mathematicians, writers, and scientists shined brightly each day as they took on new experiences and improved their grit in doing things that were challenging to them. Our children and teachers were presented with the IPAD as an educational tool to amplify learning. The capability to research was amazing to see from K to 4th grade. Students were doing passion/genius hour projects from Kindergarten through 4th grade. GES Gators presented their new learned material in a multitude of ways including iMovie, chatterpixs, plays, presentations, posters, and more. Student centered environments were evident throughout the building. Our goal is to create an environment where students feel at home at their school! Thank you for joining us in the HSE21 journey of creating student centered learning opportunities for our students. We want our students to inquire and investigate! We hope this summer you will take time to continue to foster this inquiry approach in your home. Take time to cook together, play in the dirt and enjoy the sunshine! Get outside and play and then play some more!
Thank you for sharing your children with us and thank you for being an amazing school community!

Those images can be added to the gifts that are available and GES gets the same 30% of the sales! Also don't forget summer birthdays and Father's Day. If you have questions regarding your account please contact Ms. Green at egreen@hse.k12.in.us.
Thanks to everyone for supporting our Artsonia web gallery this year. Your comments and purchases have made a difference to your student and his/her school!
