Soaring Over MDE

Week 21

Welcome to February

I still cannot believe that we have already passed our 100th day of school! I also am in awe that we are coming up to our 1-year anniversary of Shelter In Place. (Who would have ever thought in the modern times, we would be faced with this!) A friend shared the photo below with me to show how learning and teaching happened during the polio outbreak of 1942. I can honestly tell you (as a parent and educator) I am SO glad we are living during this outbreak rather than that one!

As we move into February. I wanted to bring your attention to a very special birthday that will be happening on, Monday, February 1....Mr. Patrick's! If you happened to be on campus picking up work or dropping off paper (the paper drive is still going on, through Friday, 2/5) and you wanted to tell him, 'Happy Birthday.' I know he would be super appreciative!

I cannot end this part of the newsletter without a HUGE shout-out and THANK YOU to our long-term sub Kelly Mori! Mrs. Mori has been with us for over 2-months and has done a terrific job. Mrs. Mori will be incredibly missed! We are so lucky that this is the only school she will sub at and she has promised to still do the bulletin boards when we need them done! Thank you for all you have done Mrs. Mori!!!

3rd Grade Recorders

Attention 3rd Grade Families:

(Sorry) In the next few weeks, your child's teacher or Mr. Hanna will be distributing song recorders. Every 3rd grader is receiving one. We do not have many extras. If your child happens to lose theirs, the dog eats it, or it happens to fly out the window on a car trip, we have extras in the office for purchase. They are $5 each/cash only.

Eagle News Update

With some new academic demands on our 5th graders, we are opening up the process to our 4th graders too. Be on the look-out for issue 4 next Friday!

If your child (4th and 5th grade only) is interested in being a part of the newspaper, please encourage them to fill out this Google Form.

TK/Kindergarten Registration

TK/Kindergarten Registration will be in the Multi-Use Room and it will be by appointment only through SignUpGenius.

TK and Kindergarten registration appointments will be offered on Tuesday, February 2nd and Wednesday, February 3rd. Masks must be worn for anyone coming to registration day.

Please make sure you have filled out this survey as well before coming to registration.

ParentSquare

As many of you know we had the need to get a few urgent messages to as many people as possible this past week. ParentSquare is the program that MDUSD has chosen to go with. Please make sure that you are "enrolled" so that communications come to you. While it does sync with Aeries, it is best to sign up for it too. I have downloaded the app to my phone and it makes it quite easy to get communication and to communicate with famillies.

Our school and district has adopted ParentSquare; a communication and organization tool designed to keep parents informed and involved in their children's learning and school activities.
• Receive all school, communication via email, text or app notification
• See important calendar events and RSVP
• See photos, links and attachments
• Sign up to volunteer or bring items
• Send private messages to teachers or staff
• Appreciate those who post messages (please give them generously!)
