Message From The Principal
Good afternoon Stoller Families
I want to start off by reminding you that there is no school next week, November 22-26. This change to the original calendar came about for many reasons, but mostly to give students and staff a much-deserved wellness break and the opportunity for families to reflect on the accomplishments their students have achieved so far this year. The entire Stoller Staff is appreciative of the support our families are not only providing us, but more importantly the entire community. It is because of this support, our students have had a very successful first quarter and I know this success will continue for the remainder of the school year.
When we return on November 29, students will notice a few changes we are going to implement during lunch and passing times.
In order to help students, move through the building easier, we are reminding them to walk on the right side of the hall. Elementary schools have a saying "walk with a purpose" but we find that it applies to Middle School as well. We are finding that students are spending a lot of time socializing during the passing time, which causes them to be late to their next class. "Walking with a purpose" will enable students to arrive to their next class on time which helps our students and teachers maximize their time together.
During lunch, we will position staff around the building to remind students they need to walk to and from the cafeteria. While this is important in the halls, it is especially important as they go up and down the stairs. During lunch, students will notice that we have relocated the cashier stands to inside the food service area. Our hope is this will help alleviate the crowds that form while students are waiting for the cashier. We are also going to ask that students only go to the food service area if they are getting food. We are trying to reduce the number of students in line that are not getting food, so that the line moves more efficiently.
Talking to the students over break about these changes will help us when we return on Monday the 29th.
I, along with the entire Stoller Staff, hope you have a safe and enjoyable Fall Break.
Virtual Fall Band Concert
Mr. Van Dyke presented a virtual band concert earlier this week. Click the links below to check out a few short videos of Stoller 6th graders if you missed the event earlier this week.

Immunization Exclusion Day
Immunization Exclusion Day will be Wednesday, February 16th, 2022. Immunization parent notification letters were mailed earlier this week. The front page of the letter tells you the immunizations that our records indicate your child is missing. The back page shows your child's immunization status. Please note your child’s updated immunization status or exemptions must be completed and returned to the school by Tuesday, February 15th, 2022. All students with incomplete vaccine records will be excluded from school starting Wednesday, February 16th, 2022.
If your child's last Diphtheria/Tetanus/Pertussis (DTP, Td, Tdap) dose was prior to age 7, they become due for a booster at age 12. Please note, you will receive a letter in the mail if your child’s immunization records are incomplete. If you do not receive a letter, your child’s immunizations are up-to-date, and no further action is required on your part. Parents can view immunization records in their ParentVUE accounts at any time.
If you received a letter in the mail regarding immunizations, you need to complete one of the following actions prior to February.
- If your child has received the vaccines, submit the documentation with the dates to michelle_hall@beaverton.k12.or.us.
- If you want a non-medical exemption for your child, you will need to complete three actions 1. Complete the required education regarding immunizations. The module can be found on the Non-medical Vaccine Exemptions page of the Oregon Health Authority website (linked here).
2. Complete the Non-medical Exemption box on page two of the Certificate of Immunization Status Form (linked here).
3. Submit both the completed non-medical exemption education certificate and the updated Oregon CIS Form to michelle_hall@beaverton.k12.or.us. - If your child needs a medical exemption, you must provide documentation to michelle_hall@beaverton.k12.or.us. The information needed from the doctor is stated on page 2 of the Certificate of Immunization Status Form (linked here).

Lost & Found
Is your student missing a piece of clothing, lunch box or water bottle? If so have them check the lost and found. There are several lunch boxes and water bottles ready to be claimed by their owners. Any item not claimed by November 19, will be donated to a local charity. Items such as jewelry, phones, headphones are stored in the office and must be identified by the student prior to be returned.
Water Bottles
One of the best ways to stay healthy is to drink plenty of water. Unfortunately, our drinking fountains are still unusable, so we are asking that all students bring water bottles to school each day. They can be filled using the sinks in the classrooms.
Family Survey
We are thrilled to have students back in our building. We also understand returning to this school year after CDL/Hybrid may be more challenging.
Since March of 2020, families and students developed routines and coping strategies that fit the situation. Now that students are back in person full time, finding new routines that work can be difficult. This survey (Español) is to see how you are doing and determine if there are areas where we can help.
Reduced/Waived School Fees
All BSD students are eligible for free breakfast and lunch at school for the entire 2021-2022 without applying.
If you have received an approval letter for the 2021-2022 school year, you do not need to apply.
If you have not received an approval letter and you wish to be considered for other benefits, such as electronic device coverage, athletic fees, testing fees, you must apply for Meal Benefits.
Go to www.schoolcafe.com to apply online, or pick up a paper application in the front office.

Cell Phone Policy
Our cell phone policy is “off and away.” This means that phones are shut down completely and put away from bell to bell (9:15 - 3:50). If students need to contact home, they can come to the office and use the phone.
If a student is using their phone during school hours, we will give them a reminder to turn it off and put it away.
If a student has a second incident of phone use, we will have them check it in with the front office and they can pick it up after school.
If a student has a third incident of phone use, we will have the check in with the front office and a parent/guardian will need to pick it up.
Continued violation will be addressed on a case by case basis.
We appreciate your cooperation and support with this.
Student Water Bottles
Please send students with water bottles
Due to covid concerns, we are asking that students bring their own water bottle. There are sinks in every hall for students to refill them. Water fountains are not available for students.
Please send a water bottle so that your student can have water throughout the day and remind them to refill their bottles throughout the day.
