Good Afternoon Graham Community,
I hope you've enjoyed this week, and it has set you up to enjoy the coming weeks of winter break. It's been a joy seeing our students in festive moods while in the classrooms and hallways, and we look forward to spending a fun and engaging three days with them next week.
Thank you to all the Room Parents who helped to provide materials for our Winter Parties today, as well as the teachers for facilitating the activities. There were truly some fun and educational activities that I saw as I walked around, which reminded me why I never hesitate to state that we have the best community that supports us, both inside and outside the school.
Also, please make a note that News From The Nest will be going out on a special date next week: Wednesday, December 22nd.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Ms. Walton
School Safety: Behind The Scenes
In acknowledgment of recent communications from the district and nationwide concerns around school safety, please take time to review the district's approach to school safety.
Recently, our own Dr. Adrian Talley, the Naperville Police Chief, and Mr. Dan Bridges, Superintendent of Naperville 203, were featured in a webinar called School Safety: Behind the Scenes.
The discussion centered around school safety during a crisis, and how each group approaches school threats, communications, and the collaborative work to ensure the safety of our community. Please feel free to watch it and reach out to our office with any questions.

Congrats To Mrs. Shiles On Her IPEF Grant
Congratulations to Graham Elementary's LMC Director, Mrs. Michelle Shiles, who was recently notified that her grant application has been approved for full sponsorship by the Indian Prarie Educational Foundation.
The grant requested funds for a program called Full STEAM Ahead!
The program is intended to re-energize the Graham Makerspace/Steam programming that was paused by eLearning, and make STEAM accessible to all students using COVID-19 safe protocols. Full STEAM Ahead! establishes support for classroom teachers to integrate STEAM lessons into their lessons and gradually release ownership from the LMC and into the classroom. It provides STEAM text sets and “explore and take” activities for all grade levels and interests. The STEAM text sets would allow every staff member an entry point into STEAM education for years to come.
Mrs. Shiles hopes to begin building the program effective immediately.
