The WEATHER REPORT is the signature project in Fifth Grade Spanish!
Fifth Grade students reported the weather as weather reporters on TV. They were able to choose to do the weather from somewhere in the world or an imaginary place. Below is the assignment from Sra. Smith. It shows the incredible work the students put into this project!
Weather Report
“REPORTE DEL TIEMPO”
· Write a weather report using the dialogue one that Señora Smith gave you as a guide.
· You will be working in pairs.
· You will be reporting from somewhere in the world OR from an imaginary place!
1. The two of you are the reporters, so each will introduce yourself as the reporter.
2. Report the weather for TODAY and at least the following three days.
3. Include at least 6 different weather expressions.
4. Include at least 8 temperatures… a high and a low temperature for each day.
5. Use the VOCABULARY given in class to help you compose your report.
6. Practice on the dialogue sheet that Sra. Smith gave you to create a “draft”. Write the DRAFT clearly for the day it is due.
7. You will submit the draft to Señora Smith for corrections.
8. You will use the corrected draft to write the FINAL REPORT on the form that Señora Smith will give you. You may also TYPE the dialogue.
Below are the photos from their presentations! Great Job!

All-School Field Day June 16, 2021
To all the COVID vaccinated parents and family members, we need your help to man a booth at the End of Year Field Day,
As our school year is coming to a close we mean to end strong and celebrate a fabulous group of kids, teachers, staff and volunteers that have helped to make this year possible. This year we will have to miss our annual end of year picnic. Instead we are going to celebrate with an end of year field day! There will be an assortment of activities and play stations for all to enjoy at each school location.
We need parent volunteers to help our teachers and staff run the stations and enjoy the fun!
Please RSVP with a sign up to help and let us know you'll be available to help us celebrate the end of one crazy but highly successful school year!
As always, feel free to connect directly with your PALS presidents at pals@thefranklin.academy or catch up with PALS on our website, palsinfo.com

Butterfly Release Day in Second Grade!
Mrs. Lyzwinski and Ms. Belmont's classes enjoyed an excursion to release their butterflies!
Mrs. Lyzwinski shared this:
"Today was the day! As our weather was so nice this afternoon, we were able to take a walk to Cornwall Park where we released our beautiful painted lady butterflies out into their natural habitat! Here are a few things that the students had to say about our butterfly release..."
"Our butterflies seemed shy. I guess it was because that was their first time outside!" - Chloe
"One of the butterflies didn't fly right away. It looked like it had a crooked wing." - Xander
"Before we opened the butterfly habitat, the butterflies were flying around inside the cage. They seemed excited!" - Kayla
"We played on the preschool property after we released the butterflies. It was fun!" - Parker

What Our parents say...
Dr. Tung M. Ha & Dr. Kerri Fitzgerald
Daughters in 7th and 3rd Grade
Both of our daughters began their education at The Franklin Academy in the preschool program. Even in preschool, we were pleasantly surprised by the school’s academic emphasis. Although we live in close proximity to a well regarded public elementary school, our family chose to continue our daughters’ education at Franklin Academy’s Lower School. We were impressed by the high academic expectations in a welcoming and nurturing learning environment. The small class size enables individualized education where students are not being taught to just meet the State standard, but to reach their full potential in every subject. Teachers can focus their efforts on educating students instead of disciplining disruptive children.
At every grade level, my daughters have had a close-knit peer group that is academically strong and engaged in extracurricular activities. These friends are supportive of one another inside and outside of school. Franklin Academy has fostered a love for learning in our daughters and they look forward to the upcoming Monday at the end of each week.
The school does a remarkable job of balancing academic rigor with holistic child education. Moral character development is an integral part of the curriculum. With a student body that is culturally and religiously diverse, we appreciate the universal humanistic values that are discussed in chapel and intertwined in the classroom. These topics have become the basis of our family dinner time conversations. Additionally, wearing a school uniform has ingrained a mindset for learning in my daughters. At this school, the students focus on education instead of being worried about the latest fashion trends.
Having our children attend Franklin Academy has laid a solid foundation for success in life. We are grateful to be part of this school family.

The First Grade Word Surgeons!
Mrs. Jorgensen shared this:
"Today during Writer's Workshop, we were Word Doctors/Surgeons. We took two words and turned them into contractions."
Notice all the official Dr. Identification tags, and protective gloves! So Fun! It looks like the surgeries were successful and the bandages are holding the contractions together nicely!
Great Job!

Long Range Rifle Shooting Lesson with USA Shooting Team Member.
A personalized 2 hour lesson for two at a private shooting range with a member of the United States Shooting Team.
What will be included in this amazing opportunity:
- Rifle handling and safety basics
- Shooting a .308 caliber, semi-automatic rifle at 100 yards to start
- Shooting a .308 single-shot, sniper rifle at pool balls at 300 yards
- Shooting a .300 WSM custom long range Match Rifle at a steel gong at 800 yards.
Matt Connor, Winning Bidder and TFA Parent Shared This About the Experience:
"When I pulled up to the range and saw everything that Mr. Balolia had prepared for our day at his gun range I was totally stunned. It was clear that Mr. Balolia has gone to great lengths to ensure our experience was truly incredible and he did not disappoint. I never thought I would shoot a pool ball at 300 yards, or hit a 10 inch target at 800 yards but with the coaching and equipment of Shiraz the impossible became a reality. I just can’t say enough about how much fun Dr. Ha and I had and how much I learned. Thank you for making this auction item the best I have ever purchased!"
Thank you again Shiraz Balolia for your donation, and thank you for everyone who bid on the auction items making the event such a huge success!

Constellations in Mixed-Media Art! 7th Grade
"We learned how to draw & paint nebulas in outer space with stars and a person in a spacesuit exploring space in mixed-media art. Inspiration for this was NASA, and photos of outer space. This art project included the following elements of art: Color, Space, Line, Shape, Texture, & Emphasis.
Students chose the spacesuit image to draw, (which could be a spacesuit with an animal face or a human being), with colored pencils & a black sharpie for outlines. Each student chose what kind of colors to paint with watercolors, and then used white acrylic paint flicked on top for the stars in the background. ~ Miss Rachel Simpson #BeKidLetsShine"
