Builder's Club is Collecting Used Sporting Equipment!
The Berea Police Department seeks to partner with multiple community partners, both private and public, to collect usable sports equipment. The City of Berea has many great sports programs available to area youth, including but not limited to, the Berea Baseball Association, Titans Baseball and Softball, Tri-City Soccer, and Lou Groza Football. An often-overlooked cost associated with participation in sports, is the equipment that is needed. Younger participants are constantly growing, so they outgrow their equipment quickly, sometimes within a season. This is a cost that parents and guardians sometimes cannot afford. Other parents or guardians may have a surplus of usable equipment that their kids may have outgrown that is just taking up space. This surplus could help ease this burden. The benefits to participating in youth sports include the obvious physical activity benefits, but also help develop teamwork, respect, communication, and leadership just to name a few. The idea behind this drive is to help remove finances as a barrier to join and participate.
In speaking with residents, coaches, parents, and youth athletes, we were able to confirm the need for a collection such as this. Items that were specifically mentioned, included, cleats for all sports, baseball gloves, bats, and catcher’s gear, and soccer balls. This is by no means an all- inclusive list, and any usable equipment would be appreciated.
Starting Monday, April 8th - Thursday, April 18th There will be a green canister in the main office for you to drop off any sports equipment that you may want to donate. Thank you, Thank you!!!!!!
