Homework
Dear Families,
Your child has worked really hard on writing a rough draft for their famous person’s biography and it’s time to publish. Could you please help by editing and typing the final draft at home? Please return rough and final drafts at your earliest convenience in the next week or two.
Remember to save a copy for your files at home because students may need to refer back to it when they get ready to do their oral report.
Formatting: You may use any font that your child can easily read. Cursive or fancy fonts sometimes can be difficult for a 2nd grader to read. Double spacing is also easier to read for students. Remember to indent each paragraph. The five paragraph report should go in chronological order:
Brilliant Beginning
Childhood
Adult Life
Contributions
Conclusion
Content: To begin each paragraph, students have been asked to write a topic sentence, or “hook”. Then, write 3-5 interesting facts and details to support the topic. Conclude with a sentence that includes a feeling or thought. Example:
Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to be the 1st person to fly over the Atlantic Ocean? Amelia Earheart did just that. Fact1 (Childhood)…..Fact 2 (Childhood)…., Fact 3 (Childhood)...etc. I think she was a very brave and adventurous person.
Repeat for Adult Life Paragraph & Contributions Paragraph.
Thanks so much for your help!
