Student Achievement
"Amazing Grace" Yoga for Preschool
Mrs. Mierzwinski's preschool adaptive P.E. classes' learned about diversity, acceptance and kindness through a Black History Month yoga story. Students listened the story "Amazing Grace" by Mary Hoffman, then discussed the learned concepts. Students put knowledge into action, pairing the characters and story sequencing with yoga moves. All classes enjoyed exploring "Amazing Grace," through an empowering Black History Month yoga flow.
Third Grade Students Get Presidential!
Mrs. Doyle's class spent a few weeks researching our country's presidents. The students each chose a president. They used books from the library, as well as various websites, to learn all about their president. In addition to making a poster about their president, they shared with the class what they learned about the president that they studied.
Valentine's Day Candy Shop
Ms. Clark and Ms. Roesch's speech students organized and ran a Valentine's Day Candy Shop, which they opened for the day on Friday. The students had the opportunity to practice many speech skills through their interactions with customers. The shop was so successful that the students sold out before the end of the day!
Climate and Culture
Third Grade Students Create a "Kindness Door"
Students from Mrs. Whoy and Mrs. Costello's classes selected classmate names from a hat and had to write at least one kind thought about that particular classmate. Students shared their kind words by writing their thoughts on a heart which was then displayed on our "kindness" heart door.
Davenport Celebrates the 100th Day of School!
Friday, February 14th, marked the 100th day of school year! Students in both buildings did a number of activities to celebrate the milestone.

NJ CAP Program Comes to Davenport
The New Jersey Child Assault Prevention Program (CAP) is a statewide prevention program that seeks to reduce children’s vulnerability to abuse, neglect and bullying by providing comprehensive prevention workshops. CAP works closely with the EHT school district and has a threefold educational approach to abuse prevention which includes training in the following areas: staff in service, parent programs, and individual classroom workshops. This week many of Davenport's students had the opportunity to see the CAP lessons in their classrooms.
