Knightly News
February Issue
Dear Kahla Parents,
The Black History Month celebration started as "Negro History Week," which Carter G. Woodson, a noted African American historian, scholar, educator and publisher, founded in 1926. In 1976, it became a month-long celebration. Correlating with the birthdays of Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln, the month of February was chosen.
For the month of February our Kahla Knights will explore and appreciate the rich cultural history of African-Americans, and to shine a light on the contributions and achievements of African-Americans to what the United States has become.
