Arrival and Dismissal--Reminders
Early Out: If you have to pick your child up early from school (appointments, etc.) please plan do so before 2:00pm. Our front office gets very busy between 2:00-2:40 as we work to safely dismiss students. Thank you for your consideration!
Change to Dismissal: If your child will be changing how they go home on a specific day (i.e. typically rides the bus but will be parent pick-up that afternoon), please ensure that you call the front office prior to 2:00 pm to inform them of changes. We cannot guarantee that changes made after 2:00 pm will get to the classroom teacher in time and therefore student will be dismissed their normal way. Please also remember that any change must be called in by parent.

COVID/Health Updates:
With the onset of cooler temperatures, we also typically see an increase in colds and illness, especially as we move into the fall and winter months. Given the additional factor of COVID, please reach out any time you have a question, aren't certain if you should keep your child home, etc.
We also ask that you reach out and let us know if your child/family has had any known exposure to someone who has tested positive with COVID, even if your child does not display any symptoms. We also ask that if anyone in your household is being tested for COVID, that all students are kept home until the results are received. This helps us to better ensure the safety of all of our staff and students.
We continue to follow district practices, that have been discussed with and approved by the El Paso County Health Department, which strongly encourage the wearing of masks, but is not requiring them at this time. Additionally, to help with the safety of our staff and students, we have increased the extent of our sanitizing in all classrooms and shared spaces within the building, continue to emphasize hand washing/sanitizing consistently throughout the day, are still grouping students in cohorts and being mindful of social distancing. Also remember that we do have the rapid testing available in our building, so if at any time you would like to have your child, or anyone in your household tested, please reach out to Nurse Kim to schedule that test. As you know, COVID guidelines are constantly changing in response to the need. If at any time you have any questions about COVID, or about your child's health, etc. please don't hesitate to reach out. We will continue to keep you updated about any changes to District 8 practices regarding COVID.
Additional general health reminders: Please remember that if your child has a fever, we ask that you keep them home until they have been fever-free for 48 hours without medication. If your child has gastrointestinal illness, please keep them at home for 24 hours past the last episode of vomiting or diarrhea. Together we can help ensure the well-being of our staff and students, and we appreciate your support.
