Our Learning Topics for the Week

Parents-you can use this section of the newsletter to stay informed about the curriculum we are covering in class during this week. This will help you have conversations at home about what your child is learning at school.

Reading/Language Arts: Reading and writing strategies, handwriting, Spelling - short "a" (CVC) words

Math: Number Sense to 50 (Building Numbers using Tens and Ones Place Value, Representing Numbers using standard and expanded form)

Science: Identify Objects in the Day and Night Sky

Social Studies: Patriotism and Constitution Day

Healthy Snacks

Each day we have a designated snack time in our classrooms. There are Federal Guidelines that must be followed for classroom snacks because of the Foods of Minimal Nutritional Value Act. Only 3 times per year are the students allowed to have sugary snacks in the classroom, and those are reserved for our 2 party days and field day. The nurse sent out a list of healthy snacks for the classroom. Some of the items are as follows: pretzels, goldfish, dry cereal, carrots, cheese sticks, and fruit. We have several students with severe nut allergies, so please make sure what you send for snack does not contain nuts. Nut products are not allowed in the classrooms at snack time. Also, the only drink that can be consumed in the classroom during the day is water. Thanks for your help in keeping everyone safe in our classrooms!

First PTA Meeting and Spaghetti Dinner

The first PTA meeting of the year is this Thursday, September 17th from 6:30-7:30. It will begin with a Spaghetti Dinner and conclude with the PTA meeting. The order form was sent home in your child's STAR folder. If you have not ordered your tickets yet, please do so by Monday, Sept. 14th. You can use the copy of the flyer below if needed.
