God's Merciful Heart
St. Faustina, known in the convent as Sister Maria Faustina of the Most Blessed Sacrament, performed her duties in the convent with humility and joy, despite the suffering she endured from tuberculosis. Her relationship with Christ was so intense that she experienced many visions of Jesus and enjoyed many conversations with Jesus. The message that Jesus spoke to her, over and over, was the message of Divine Mercy, that God wants to offer everyone the mercy and forgiveness that pours from His Merciful Heart.
St. Faustina died at the young age of 33, joining the many saints whose lives were short but whose examples are long lasting. In the year 2000, Pope St. John Paul II canonized Sister Maria Faustina, honoring her as "the first saint of the new millenium." On the occasion of the canonization of St. Faustina, Pope St. John Paul II prayed, "May your message of light and hope spread throughout the world, spurring sinners to conversion, calming rivalries and hatred and opening individuals and nations to the practice of brotherhood."
St. Faustina is a great example to us of a life lived in the humble service of God, and she teaches us that, if we are open to Jesus' presence in our lives and hearts, He will speak to us and lead us to the Merciful Heart of God, where we can live in eternal happiness with Him in heaven.
Be on the lookout in a future Weekly Update Crusader Chronicle for more about God's Divine Mercy!
A Prayer to St. Joseph, Defender of Life
Dearest St. Joseph, at the word of an angel, you lovingly took Mary into your home.
As God’s humble servant, you guided the Holy Family on the road to Bethlehem,
welcomed Jesus as your own son in the shelter of a manger,
and fled far from your homeland for the safety of both Mother and Child.
We praise God that as their faithful protector, you never hesitated to sacrifice
for those entrusted to you. May your example inspire us also
to welcome, cherish, and safeguard God’s most precious gift of life.
Help us to faithfully commit ourselves to the service and defense of human life
—especially where it is vulnerable or threatened.
Obtain for us the grace to do the will of God in all things.
Amen.

School Library News
The first two weeks of the library ran smoothly. Pre-K 3 through 4th grade students will attend the library every other week, as the schedule permits. 5th through 8th grade will be able to check out books during lunch recess; timing for 5th through 8th grade will be announced at a future date. The theme for the last two weeks was Johnny Appleseed. Please remind your child to return their library books prior to their next library day. Students who don't return a book will not be able to check out another book.
The Library Aides Program will begin this week. We had such a great response that students will be assigned a day on a two week rotation cycle. This is a great way for your children to get service hours.

Important Drop Off and Pick Up Reminders
If you need to pick up your son or daughter prior to regular dismissal time, please be sure to pick up no later than 2:15 pm, in order to keep all of our dismissals flowing smoothly.
Car drop off begins at 8 am. If you do not see a school staff member in the drop off area, please do not drop off your child or children and leave them outside the doors under the blue canopy; please wait until a staff member comes out and opens the doors.
For car drop off, please stay in the drop off line and do not drive around the car in front of you. Wait until the car in front of you pulls forward before you pull forward.
For car drop off, please do your best to make sure your child is ready to exit the car when you pull up and stop. Especially if you are the first car in line, please drive away once your child is out of the car and your car door is closed. This will help with the flow of traffic in the car drop off line.
For car pick up, please wait until the school staff member gives the signal for your line of cars to pull out and drive out of the parking lot before starting to drive away.
For Pre-K drop off and pick up, please follow the procedures, leaving the lanes with cones at the ends empty for parents to drive out once they have walked their Pre-K students to the Pre-K building. Please take extra care as you are driving, parking, and leaving after Pre-K drop off and pick up.
If you have someone dropping off or picking up your child that has not dropped off or picked up at St. Ignatius before, please inform them of the procedures so that there will be no issues.

Parish Women's Bible Study - Walking with Purpose
WALKING WITH PURPOSE REGISTRATION NOW OPEN!
Walking With Purpose is a national women’s Catholic Bible study program. Participants at the St. Ignatius of Antioch chapter are women of all ages and faith backgrounds , seeking to grow in faith. Our first session is on Tuesday, September 13, 2022. The course this year includes two bible studies:
Ordering Your Priorities lays a foundation that helps women focus on the things that matter most. Diving into the pages of Scripture, we’ll connect our modern-day challenges with the changeless truths of our faith.
Reclaiming Friendship explores God's plan for friendship, and what it means to be created in His image. This study helps us to understand what it is to have lasting and abiding friendships.
WWP meets at St. Ignatius on:
Tuesday mornings from 9:30-11:15am in the church auditorium
OR
Tuesday evenings from 6:45-8:30pm in the Antioch Center.
No Bible study experience is needed.
If you can't attend every week, come when you can. If you can’t prepare for each week’s study, come anyway and join the discussion.
