Letter from our Student Body President, Tilly Krishna
Dear EHS students,
I hope everyone is having a great start to the school year! I know a lot of us are still struggling with the new normal, but I think it’s important to remember to always take care of yourself and lean into the community when you need it. Please reach out to Chris Davis (Vice President), Iris Hsiang (Student Rep. on EWSD Board), or me if there’s anything we can help you with.
On another note, Student Government is off to a great start and it is now election season! If you are interested in being a part of student government this year, please fill out the below Google Form. You must complete and submit the form by 3 p.m. on Friday, October 23 in order to be on the ballot for the election. Voting will take place the following week assuming that we get more than fifteen applications. Being a part of student government gives you the opportunity to have a voice at the table for school-wide decisions and it gives you the chance to organize events such as spirit week, Winter Ball, and more. We meet once a week on Wednesdays from 12:00-12:30 p.m. on Zoom. Hope to see some new faces in our future meetings!
Have a great weekend!

Honoring Indigenous Peoples' Day
This week we acknowledged the traditional, ancestral, unceded territory of the Abenaki on which we are learning and working today and every day. The Abenaki people cared for this land for generations - long before we arrived. They continue to do so. Their relationship to the land calls us to learn to be better caretakers of the land ourselves. We pay our respects to the elders past and present. We honor with gratitude this land and all it gives us. Here are some activities you could do this week to learn more:
Learn about the present-day life and culture of a particular Indigenous Tribe or Nation; here is a list from which to choose.
Discuss the history of the people whose land you live on.
Share an example of indigenous activism with children.
Unpack myths about Christopher Columbus.

Power-OFF Chromebooks Reminder!
We've been having a few issues with Chromebook Operating system updates. We are finding that Chromebooks are rarely completely powering off and so by not doing a re-boot, the operating system does not have a chance to update.
Students should occasionally shut them all the way off, (perhaps once a week during the time the machine is charging at home overnite) so that they can reboot and update to the latest version of ChromeOS.
Naviance
You will use Naviance many times as a student at EHS. It’s important that you have access to this tool!
Please check that you can get in to Naviance (be sure to get there from student tools on the EHS website).
Your user name should be your first initial and last name the way it looks in your email (do not include the @vt.ewsd.org)
Your password is likely your 6 digit date of birth (ex: May 2, 2004 would be 050204), unless You have changed it.
If it doesn’t work on the first try, click “forgot password” and look for an email. Read the details in the email very carefully. In case the system generated more than one password change email, be sure you’re working from the most recent one.
