Computer Basics Workshop

Are you new to computers, or do you know someone who is, (a parent, perhaps?) Do you think you’re missing some of the fundamentals or terminology?

Learn how to open programs, save files, find your work, and move around on a computer. We have hands-on exercises and free handouts!

St. Thomas Public Library is thinking of starting an evening Adult Book Club that will read and discuss mystery books. We have to see if there is enough interest first! If you would like to join an Adult Mysteries Book Club, please email rcrocker@st-thomas.library.on.ca or call 519-631-6050. We'll take your information and give you the date and time for the first meeting.

Have you seen this man? This mystery man's oversized photo was found in the library's local history department. We're wondering who he was and what railway he worked for. We only have the information from the back of the photo to work with:706, St. Thomas, Johnny Jan 26/1901, EL Jan 28/1901, 1.75, Mrs. Geo. Kitson, Smith. CAN YOU HELP?? (The actual photo can be viewed at the library, George Thorman Room, second level. Any help is appreciated!

Summer Reading Club Registration

Registration continues throughout the summer!

Get ready to GO! Summer is HERE. If you're wondering what to do with this kids, be sure to sign up for the TD Summer Reading Club at the library! We'll keep them busy with daily crafts, activities, programs, books, and movies. They'll enjoy the prizes and exclusive "End of Summer" Carnival! We have programs planned for all ages - from toddler to teen.

  • August 3: Summer Reading Club Registration: Didn't make it to the library yet to sign up your kids for Summer Reading Club? No worries - we're coming to you! Children of any age can sign up for the Summer Reading Club at the market. Each registrant receives an official "Go!" passport and stickers, and access to programs, activities, movies, draws & giveaways, and an invitation to an End of Summer "Carnival!" We're also bringing lots of children's books for sale!
  • August 10 - Readers' Advisory - Books for Checkout!: We're bringing books from our two new library displays for you to "Check out." "Have you RED this book yet" and "Staycation doesn't mean Stagnation! Take a trip with a book!" If you check out one of our display books, don't forget to let us know what you think of it. We hold a monthly feedback draw where customers get a chance to win a library prize pack!
  • August 17 - eBooks: It still comes as a surprise to some folks that the library has a large collection of eBooks available for checkout. eBooks can be read on almost any device, thanks to a multitude of free apps and software. Come to the library booth this week to find out how you can read the latest best seller or long awaited book on your "To read" list!
  • August 24 - Getting ready for back to school: Our Children's & Teens' Department is bringing everything a parent needs to get their child ready for back to school, including a helpful "Back to School" booklist for parents, advice books for you to check out, and some of the hottest books available that your child or teen will actually WANT to read to kick-start their brain!

Friends' Book Sale: The Friends are selling books a little differently this year. Books are by donation! You pay what you think the book is worth. New selection of books are added weekly. Also, check out their pre-wrapped book gift packs which include a gift certificate for a free book at the Library Friends Shop!
