Positive Behavior Winner!
A Message from Nurse Julie
Cold and flu season is upon us, we are seeing an abundance of both strep throat and a stomach virus in the school right now - please help us to keep all of our students healthy.
Encourage hand washing! Before eating, after eating, after toileting, after coughing/blowing nose…
Practice cough etiquette – cough into your sleeve not your hands!
Help your child to get a good night’s sleep. Encourage a healthy diet with lots of fluids.
Keep your child home if they are sick – state and district guidelines require students to be FEVER FREE for 24 hours WITHOUT the use of fever reducing medications (Acetaminophen (Tylenol), and Ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil) before they can return to school, unless otherwise directed by their physician.
You should also keep your child home for the following:
· Persistent vomiting or diarrhea
· Red draining eyes – (such as with pink eye/conjunctivitis)
· Rash that is not covered by clothing – or ANY rash or skin wound that is draining
· Live lice
· Persistent cough
Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns about your student’s health. And, please be sure to update any emergency contact numbers – in the event that you are needed to pick up your ill student – I need a way to contact you.
A New Website is Coming!
In order to provide parents with information and assistance regarding the new KISD campus/teacher website, the District will be providing a "Parent Digital Fair" on Feb 16 from 5:30 - 8:00 p.m. in the KISD Board Room (Rock Gym). They will answer questions about new Websites, Canvas, Home Access Center, or any other technology related concerns. Please click on this link to view the flyer.
Fundrairser until February 16
Hello Dads!!!!! I would like to invite you to become a part of our Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) program here at North Riverside!!!!! If you are interested in volunteering, you will first need to complete an application for a background check: http://www.applitrack.com/kellerisd/onlineapp/default.aspx?all=1&AppliTrackPostingSearch=title%3Avolunteer%20&AppliTrackZipRadius=5&AppliTrackSort=type&AppliTrackLayoutMode=detail. You will not be allowed on campus as a WatchDOG dad until your background check has been approved. Once your background check has been approved, you can sign up for the day(s) that best fit your schedule by following this link: http://vols.pt/o7kyHU. Here are some answers to a few common questions:
Keller ISD Film Festival
The festival is an opportunity for students to develop their visual literacy and expand their educational experience in Keller ISD by fostering the creativity, artistic, communication and technical skills required for producing a movie. Students have seven entry categories to choose from including Story, Comedy, Music Video, Documentary, PSA Plus and Animation, and have the chance to be honored at an Awards Ceremony on April 5th, 2016 at the spectacular Alliance Cinemark XD Movie Theater, where they can win trophies, certificates, prizes and more!
The period to submit your entries is Jan 5 - Feb 29, so get working on your films! Click here to view the rules and find a category to develop your movie. Work on a solo project, involve your friends, or work with your teacher to turn it into a class project! Remember, you can enter as many films as you like, in as many categories as you like, so get your creative juices flowing and start making movies! For more information please visit http://www.kellerisd.net/community/media/film/Pages/default.aspx/
Please use the box below to thank any staff member at NRES and click submit.
We are planning on giving students prizes for following the NRES expectations. We would like to do a drawing every week based on the tickets students earned for great behavior. We will need quite a few prizes that will be included in the drawing. Do you know anyone or any business that might donate to us? If so, please contact Oliver Mujica at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you for ensuring our students are ready for instruction every day. Please remember students need to be in the classroom by 8:00am. Our attendance goal is 97.5%. Can you help us reach it?
If students are tardy, please walk your student to the office. If your student is absent, please make sure to call or send a note to school.
Are you interested in helping in the office or classroom of your child’s school on a regular basis? Are you accompanying a group of students on a field trip, helping with PTA events, becoming a WATCH DOG volunteer, or chaperoning at a dance? If you answered ‘YES’ to any of the above questions, you must complete a Criminal History Background check. To be eligible to volunteer on any of the KISD campuses, this process is completed each school year. To be considered as a KISD Volunteer for 2015-2016 school year, please complete the Volunteer Form. KISD appreciates the valuable time you donate to building brighter futures for our students. Please use the following link to start the process.http://www.applitrack.com/kellerisd/onlineapp/default.aspx?Category=Volunteers
