Pagosa Hot Springs
The Great Pagosa Hot Springs
The Ute indains were one of the American indain tribes that once claimed ownership of the Great Pagosa Hot Springs. The "strong smell" of the Great Pagosa Hot Springs derives from its remarkably high mineral content. The Great Pagosa Hot Springs itself is 145 degrees Fahrenheit, which is much to hot for safe human use. The town of Pagosa Springs has created three fountains along the San Juan river walk, which utilize the highly mineralized geothermal water.
