Bax's Briefing
All Things To Know @ Wilder--Week of Feb. 19
Amazing Wildcats,
As I continue to read further in Atomic Habits I continue to recognize great connections between my personal and work goals.
- A habit is a behavior that has been repeated enough times to become automatic.
- The ultimate purpose of habits is to solve the problems of life with as little energy and effort as possible.
- The Four Laws of Behavior Change are a simple set of rules we can use to build better habits. They are (1) make it obvious, (2) make it attractive, (3) make it easy, (4) make it satisfying.
Think of a new behavior or habit you would like to start. How will you make the habit obvious? How will you make it attractive? How can you make it easy?
Trust yourself, take the challenge, and continue being the great #TeamWilder you are!
Adam

Updates
Updates
- February PLT calendar
- We are having to move our All Pro Dads event to Friday, February 23 in the APR. The event will still start at 6:45. Due to the large size of the event last time we will be having to use the APR for it. Breakfast will be grab and go this morning and all students will be eating in their classrooms starting at 7:00.
- For 2nd & 3rd quarter observations, I plan to observe during your Guided Reading time. I will be looking mostly at Indicator 3.3. This is an area of your growth plan and tied to our BSIP. As a component of this I will be asking for your guided reading lesson plan as well for that group that I observe. The lesson plan will be another resource for me to be able to score alongside the observation.
- I plan to do an observation from this week's TST meeting around using data, collecting data, and adjusting teaching to the needs of your students (Indicator 3.3).
- Growth Plans for those off cycle will be due on the last day of March.
- Be sure to start thinking ahead about EOY testing and when you would like to take your sub day to complete assessments. You should be reaching out to Starla first about those dates and she is already filling up her schedule. Act fast!
- The Interim Galileo assessment is required for all students in grade 2-5 during the week of March 4-8. The timeline is tight for this assessment so be sure your students are ready to go.
- Students should test as early in the morning as possible. Classroom environment should mirror the MAP test.
- Students should NOT submit their assessment on day 1 for each subject area. Have them go back and check on day one and day two before submitting.
- Math will be assessed on March 4 & 5 (provide MAP reference sheet and grades 3-5 should require students to complete a multiplication table from memory--this will require explicit teaching and practice beforehand)--I know this is a WINGS day but those students can finish their test on an ELA day if needed to finish)
- ELA will be assessed on March 6 & 7.
- We do not have a set make-up day this year due to no school on Friday, March 8.

Referral Process in eSchool
I've also linked an example of a great way to write the actions that led up to the referral. As a reminder, only the student's name you are writing the referral for should be included. No other names should be included in the referral due to privacy issues.
Absence Procedures
Personal PTO request -- must be submitted 48 hours beforehand. Is NOT considered vacation time. Email notification required to Adam.
Sick PTO request (more than 24 hour notice) -- email to both Jill & Adam notifying of absence
Sick PTO request (less than 24 hour notice) -- text to both Jill & Adam notifying of absence
All absences should be submitted in Frontline ASAP. Starla is our building sub and should be the first contact for any absence.
Sub Folder Requirements (ALL STAFF)
- Updated roster & seating chart
- Emergency plans for your classroom
- Contact list (list from Jill with extensions)
- Dismissal list (how students get home)
- Classroom procedures
- Location of relevant items (red bag, etc.)
- I would encourage you to provide this resource to subs throughout the school year. It would be beneficial to have it printed and put in your sub folders. You will see that it has login information to our district platforms that they may need to use at some point throughout the day.
