St. Jerome School Weekly Newsletter
February 9th, 2022
We must pray without ceasing, in every occurrence and employment of our lives: that prayer which is rather a habit of lifting up the heart to God as in a constant communication with Him.
St. Elizabeth Ann Seton
From Mr. Merrick
Dear St. Jerome Families,
I hope that you are all having a pleasant week so far. I wanted to thank you all once again for your generosity and support last week that allowed us to celebrate a Catholic Schools Week of faith, excellence, and service. I am pleased to report that we were able to make 70 birthday boxes (with 30 alone from 7th & 8th grades, with a push from Mrs. Collins and Mrs. Z) that are being donated to Catholic Social Services. We appreciate Mrs. Schmidt delivering the boxes.
It is not too early to apply for financial aide for the 2022-2023 school year. Getting your applications in early for BLOCS and Children's Scholarship help make sure that we are able to help as many families as possible. Please follow these links for eligibility information to apply:
In last week's newsletter, I recognized all of our Annual Religion Bee participants; as promised, here are the standings from last week's Religion Bee:

Last Friday, our Student Council organized Wheel of Fortune that was broadcasted live in the afternoon. Thank you to our Student Council members for their hard work and to their moderators, Mr. Casee and Mr. Stevens. Congratulations to Emily Harmon who was our winner. I also wanted to give a special shout-out to Isabella Jenkins and Liam Plattowski for their outstanding job serving as our hosts.
Our Scholastic Book Fair is still available online through February 10th at: https://www.scholastic.com/bf/stjeromeschool. Thank you for your support; the funds raised through the Book Fair are used to enhance the collections and resources of our Fuller Library.
Friday is a red, white, and pink themed dress down day. There is no donation required for this dress down day.
Miss Natalie is looking for more participants to make this year's show successful. Please see the information below, which includes her email if you have any questions.
Have a great rest of the week; St. Jerome, pray for us!

COVID-19 & Catholic Schools Onward Protocol Reminders
Please continue to monitor your children for any symptoms, and have them stay home if unwell, if he or she tests positive for COVID-19, or was exposed to a person who tested positive for COVID-19. Please let us know so that we can help you determine a return date.
We are also ready to switch our students in K-8th over to virtual learning as quickly as possible. Please let us know, and we will prepare your child's books and lend a Chromebook if you need one. Pre-K teachers will work with families on an individual basis with suggested activities so that your child does not fall too far behind.
If a student or staff member who has been in a classroom tests positive for COVID-19, we will work with the Philadelphia Department of Health to determine close contacts and notify them of the need to quarantine. With the latest guidelines and mitigation efforts, quarantines of whole classes and classmates are generally not being recommended. Again, we will let you know their guidance and switch any students who need to quarantine to virtual.
Thank you for your help and support as we work to keep our students and staff safe and healthy while maintaining in-person instruction for our families and providing the best possible spiritual and academic experience for our students.
