Tier 1 Behavior/Vision Team Updates & Documents:
Every year teachers at SVE do an amazing job of preparing our students with the POWER of learning school & classroom expectations. Last year we worked hard on the Google site to house our teaching and curriculum. In years past we have created a schedule that you teach day by day. This year we, Vision Team, have combined the efforts of years past, and our current mission. Hopefully, this will help you direct what you are expected to teach our students beginning the first day of school until the start of JAG time. After that, the curriculum would be implemented as needed in your classroom. Jag Paws will start on Monday, August 20th!
This school year, please teach your students the Pledge Wednesday-Friday. We will begin reciting the POWER pledge over the intercom during announcements.
The following document is a framework for you and your team to follow. Many of the teaching components will be on the SVE Skill Building Site (The HOME section or your grade level section). Feel free to look at other grade levels as well. Included will also be a link to the Google drive sheet we used last year.

-Rain Dismissal: With the change to each teacher walking their class to the buses, we will keep this process the same rain or shine. Therefore, we will no longer have a different rain dismissal. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks.
-If you handle funds for a fundraiser, tshirt order, etc. Please don't ever leave money in your desk drawer. Please get the money to Wendy.
-Please join SVE PTA. The group is doing some great things, and our support is important to the organization.
-October 29 - Haunting of the Halls with SVE PTA: This is from 6:30-7:30pm. The idea is for the SVE students to dress up and then walk the main hallway to trick or treat. Basically, the kids enter the front doors, walk down the main hallway, and then exit out the Kids Country doors. Please feel free to bring your families to the event. If any teacher wants to volunteer to give out candy, that is great. The kids will dress up for this event, but not dress up on the day we go out to the corn maze, etc for the Fall Party.

QUESTIONS TO PONDER
How do you plan to impact your students this year? This month? This week? TODAY?
The league of visionary educators what's l.o.v.e. got to do with it?
What's L.O.V.E. got to do with it?
Are you looking for opportunities to grow and sprint out ahead of the vision for our schools? Do you want to contribute to the vision of the Lee’s Summit School District and collaborate in purposeful conversation with the Superintendent? Our teachers’ voices are important to the story of our schools and we are looking for those voices to make an impact. The future of school is waiting for your opinion.
Dr. Carpenter mentioned his new teacher advisory council during convocation this week and we are thrilled to announce the launch of the League of Visionary Educators (L.O.V.E.). Futurist Gerd Leonhard says we are in a digital transformation of exponential change. Are you driving change or are you being driven by it? And do you want to impact that change?
All current R-7 teachers who are passionate about our district's growth and our district's message are encouraged to apply. Do you want to influence the conversation in LS R-7? If so, this is the right forum for you. You'll L.O.V.E. it!
For more information and to apply for the League, please visit the Superintendent's webpage. Note that applications are due by September 7.
Compass Connections
"Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results."– Andrew Carnegie
The Innovator's Mindset: Empower Learning, Unleash Talent, and Lead a Culture of Creativity by: George Couros
*Understand the world is changing, and, if we don't change with it, the world will decide that it doesn't need you anymore.
*Inspiration is one of the "chief needs" of today's students.
*We forget that our responsibility isn't solely to teach memorization or the mechanics of a task but to spark a curiosity that empowers students to learn on their own.
...To wonder. To explore. To become leaders.
The Energy Bus by: Jon Gordon
*Points for Discussion with kids & colleagues:
• As the driver, you are the one who must choose your vision of where you want to go. You have the best seat and the best view of your life, so it’s up to you.
• A vision gives you something positive to look forward to and work towards.
• Your vision and goals may change over time. That’s ok. Just create new goals and visions as you get older.
• Discuss short term goals vs. long term goals.
RACE FOR THE FUTURE:
We hope to see MANY of you at our Foundation's Race for the Future 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, Oct. 13. You can register online! You can print a hard copy of the registration form and submit the form and a check to the Foundation Office at the Stansberry Leadership Center.
