Attention Sophomores!
Sophomores, are you looking for clubs to get involved in at South? Juniors and Seniors, it’s also not too late for you to join a new club! Be sure to mark your calendars for Friday, September 27th, the date of this year’s Fall Fest! From 4:00 PM - 6:30 PM, clubs will showcase their mission and their hands-on work with the South community. Learn how OEG fundraises to send care packages to deployed service women and men, how HOSA can help you develop an understanding of the healthcare industry, how Chem Club brings science to life. Come for the clubs, the dunk tank, the food, and teacher music playlists (shout-out to DJ Tannous!).
PSAT Registration
The PSAT is the practice test for the SAT for sophomores and juniors. It is offered one time every fall and is the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship for juniors. The PSAT will be held at South on Saturday, October 19th. The PSAT has two sections- Math and Evidence-Based Reading and Writing. To learn more about the PSAT/NMSQT, please visit the CollegeBoard website.
PSAT REGISTRATION is officially open and will continue through 11:59 PM on Sunday, October 13th through My Payments Plus (only).
The cost for the PSAT is $23 and registration must be completed through MyPaymentsPlus. The students name and student ID number must be added under “Manage Account” for the PSAT to appear.
After a student registers, he or she will receive a PSAT Practice Booklet in their Titan Forum within a few days. Price adjustments are automatically accounted for in MPP for students who qualify for free or reduced price meals.
The PSAT is 2 hours and 45 minutes. The test begins at 8am but we ask all participating students to be here by 7:40 AM so the test can begin promptly at 8:00 AM.
Students should be prepared for the test by bringing a calculator and several #2 pencils. Extra batteries are also a good idea. Due to test security, cell phones should not be brought into the building on test day. The test should be completed by 11:30 AM but times may vary from room to room. Room assignments will be posted at South a few days before the test.
Attention MBIT Students!

Athletics
Field Hockey

Golf
The golf team went 2-1 for the week raising their overall record to 8-3. They started the week with a loss to CB West, then beat Souderton 202-206 at Lederach Golf Course. The team also defeated William Tennent 207-228 at our home course, the Bucks Club. Seniors Lizzie Palmieri and Matt Resnick helped lead the way during both of the wins. The team has four matches next week before they begin the individual league and district tournaments.
Football
The CB South football team hosted district rival CB West on Friday, September 13th. The Bucks running game proved to be to much for the Titans as the Bucks won 42-28. The Titans hope to get back on track as the travel to Bensalem this evening to take on the Owls.
Girls' Soccer
Unfortunately, the team suffered a tough loss 2-1 in first OT. Great Valley scored in the first minute on a defensive miscue. Although South battled back and outshot the Patriots in the first half, the score remained 1-0 at the half. The Lady Titans came out of the half with high pressure earning 4 corners and a PK when Ally Cutter served a ball to Grace Tecce who was taken out in the box. Lauren Farrell finished the PK to tie the game. The game winner occurred in the first few minutes of the first overtime by a breakaway by Great Valley. CB South outshot Great Valley 18-and had 11 offensive corners but could not find the back of the net. Keeper Shannon Snyder kept the team in the game with 10 saves.
Girls' Volleyball
With the exceptional play of so many Lady Titans, the CB South Girls Volleyball Team is off to a 3-0 start to the week. This week alone Courtney Pohl had 20 kills and Millie Grove has 28 kills. Seniors captains Allie Burke and Lizzie Shirley have led the way. Allie had 19 Kills this week and 6 blocks. As a setter, Lizzie Shirley has run the offense perfectly and has lead the team with 84 assists.
Girls' Tennis
The Girls' Tennis Team swept Quakertown this week with an 8-0 win. This is their 2nd sweep this season. 1st Singles Marissa Pereira, 2nd Singles Emily Caddick, and 3rd Singles Alexa Pereira all had decisive wins over their opponents. CB South's 3rd Doubles team Yvonne Burke/Alex Meyer remain undefeated.
Boys' Soccer
Boys' soccer had a hard fought match against out of conference opponent Avon Grove but the Titans came out victorious, 4-2. Strong performances by Senior Jake Heilig, Junior Cory Bethel, and Sophomores AJ Peev and Tasso Malitas led the way. On Thursday, September 19th, the Titans were back in action against conference rival North Penn. North Penn led at the half 2-1. The Titans responded strongly but ultimately the game was decided by a difficult PK decision against South. The match ended 1-4 leaving the record at 5-2-1 on the season.
The 9th grade boys' soccer team played Central Bucks East on Tuesday, September 17th. Despite having the majority of the possession and numerous scoring opportunities, they could not find the back of the net and lost a close game 1-0. On Wednesday, September 18th, they played St James Prep and had a great team effort with a lot of quality opportunities. Late in the first half, Jamin Fee scored to take the lead. In the second half, Evan Goldberg was able to seal up the game and a 2-0 win.
Cross Country
The Boys' and Girls' XC teams kicked off their competition season this past weekend with a great showing at the Centaur Invitational at Desales University. Led by Varsity captain Jared Fenessy, the boys' team finished 3rd overall and turned in solid performances in both the Varsity and JV races. Brianna Jucewicz placed 7th overall in the girls' Varsity Race finishing the 5k course in 20:01 to help the girls' team finish well in a competitive field of District 1 and 11 teams.
On Wednesday, September 18th, the Titans hosted Quakertown and Souderton for a double dual meet race. Jared Fenessy, Owen Moelter, Gavin Crim, Andrew Schaeffer, Can Tuncelli, and Tate Prudish took 6 of the top 8 finishing spots to beat both Souderton and Quakertown. On the girls' side, Brianna Jucewicz, Alli Freund, Maureen Bosak, Allysa Irvin, and Julia Magee placed well to earn the win against Quakertown. This Saturday the XC team is back in action racing in the Council Rock Invitational at Tyler State Park.
