The 2020 Start... What does our middle school classroom look like?
Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore Permission Slip
Although there is a lot of uncertainty about what the year may bring, if the opportunity presents itself we would like to take the sixth grade class on our annual trip to The Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. The cost of the trip is $175. We are accepting deposits of $55. At this time we will not offer fundraising opportunities due to Covid 19. However, if we transition into Phase 5 we may be able to participate in some fundraisers. The deposit will be used to pay for busing expenses through Dean Transportation.
The permission slip and refundable deposit of $55 is due Monday, October 5.
Chaperones are welcome to attend the trip. However, we are only able to transport a limited number of chaperones to the U.P. and from trail head to trail head. If you are interested in attending the trip, please keep in mind that we hike approximately 4-6 miles a day and climb about 500 stairs. It is important that those who attend are physically able to hike and assist with putting up and taking down tents. Additionally, those who volunteer to attend will be asked to help assist Chatfield staff and students during our stay at the campground and at meal times.
If you would like to attend, please complete the chaperone drawing slip attached to the field study permission slip. The chaperone drawing slip should be submitted no later than September 18. We will conduct the drawing Monday, September 21. A letter will be sent to those who submit a slip notifying you if you will attend the trip or if your name will be placed on a wait list. Chaperones who wish to attend the trip must be a parent or guardian of the student. Chaperones are expected to submit a $55 deposit and the chaperone expectations contract, failure to do so will result in losing your spot to attend the trip.
Permission slips will be sent home with your child Thursday, September 3.
Thank you!
